Sig P365XL or Springfield Armory !0mm XDM Compact Elite here, depending on the social strife of the day.
Glock G19 and SW642 backup in the glove box.
Glock 19. Simple, effective, reliable, and relatively cheap.
Which pistol is best pistol?
Which motorcycle is best motorcycle?
Which car is best car?
The argument and the video is only to generate clicks. We all know the truth. It’s whatever you like. That’s what’s great about being an intelligent American.
I, for one, hate SIG. I hate Kahr too. I frequently carry a SIG, and I’m not gonna be the one to announce that Kahr is crap. Because my opinion is both mine and good for me, and total horseshit for another.
I need to get an appropriate carry piece to, in the daylight, descend into a not so deep canyon to see where the predatory mountain lions hang out and process their prey.
Thoughts?
[I only have a .357 4” which seems a bit heavy and has not enough rounds...]
I have a Glock 19 too. The Springfield XDM Compact Elite 10mm is the same size and points better for me. The Glock has never failed to go BANG, but neither have the others. The Sig P365XL has a better sight radius than the regular P365 and drops right into the pocket of cargo pants with a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I usually forget it is there.
I recently realized every handgun I have is in a car, a nightstand, or a strategically located safe. Which obviously means I need more handguns.
The best handgun is the one with which you can consistently hit the enemy.
This reminds me of those threads in motorcycle forums about which is the best oil for your motorcycle.

It’s funny… I had an XD nine years ago,, it just did not sit right in my hand.
It FELT comfortable, but I was all over the map with it. The G 19, for me it’s just perfect. When I train people, I train them on the G 19.
I also have a G 21 and 45 ACP; I love that thing. Had the same issue with the Smith Wesson 457; all over the map. But the G 21… Goes right where I point.
I don’t have a lot of experience with SIG hardware. One of these days I’ll rent a couple models at the range and see how they feel.
I recall a career criminal once opining in a tv interview of sorts that he considered the Raven .25 caliber semi auto pistol to be the finest gun a guy could have. I’m not sure they are even made and sold anymore. I haven’t seen any at gun shows lately.
Ruger LCP 380. Everyday pocket gun, don’t even know it’s there. Taurus G2C 9mm for those sketchier situations. I like a lot of the features on the Taurus. Especially the 1911 style safety.
I’d go with the cheapest and most available ammunition. I appears to be 9mm. For rifles it would be .223 centerfires. Tell me I’m wrong.
In WW2 was the 30.-06 necessary in the M-1 Garands? Overkill? Talk to me.
I would go with a compact 10mm like the Springfield Armory Compact Elite. The 10 [really 11] round magazines are the short ones. You can use 15 round magazines for backup. Hot 1omm rounds are comparable to hot .357 mag rounds.
Well spoken, Bruce. Re-posting this drivel here was a waste of dead dinosaurs.
1911s - Colt, Ruger, Rock Island, Tisas, all 5” barrels.
Feed them with Wilson Combat 47C magazines.
They all go Bang and cycle every time.
Somebody else is gonna swear by different brands and actions on firearms and magazines. That’s a Good Thing.
I enjoy these types of threads.
I lost all my firearms in an unfortunate boating accident. So everything that I say here is from memory.
I’m lazy. I don’t like cleaning guns. Plus, even quality autos will jam now and then. I’ve experienced that more than once on the firing range.
So for me, it’s a good revolver every time.
As usual, your mileage may vary.
> The best handgun is the one with which you can consistently hit the enemy. <
Better to hit a serious threat with a 22 than miss him with a 45.
Or so I’m told.
I don’t know what size hands I have but my shoe size is 14 EE. As such, a Glock, that some folks think is “blocky” fits my hand perfectly. I have several and I’ve stopped looking for a better gun. The model 30 in .45 acp is just about perfect.
