The U.S. women’s national team won’t play a World Cup match until 2027, but it is still set to receive a major payday from this year’s big tournament.
The U.S. men’s national team earned $16 million from FIFA for reaching the round of 16 before being eliminated by Belgium in a 4-1 loss in Seattle. Under U.S. Soccer’s landmark equal pay collective bargaining agreements, that money will be shared with the women’s national team.
U.S. Soccer keeps 20 percent of the prize money. The remaining 80 percent is split evenly between the men’s and women’s player pools, meaning each team is set to receive $6.4 million from the USMNT’s run. Based on 26-player rosters, that comes out to roughly $246,153 per player.
The women’s share will not be paid immediately.
The USWNT has not yet qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, and the final roster will not be selected until closer to the tournament. Until then, the money owed to the women will sit in an interest-bearing account, with that interest also split between both player pools.

They didnt have to split their winnings with the men the years they have done well. This just is a penalty on one side, its not equality.
And if you complain about numbers of fans being different, its both sides jobs to get people,interested in them, and sponsor them. If you cant do that its on you. Mens sports has had to do all this from the ground up for decades, its the reason people make fun of how little male sports players made way back compared to now, it took time to develop that network, itmdidnt happen overnight. Women come in way late to the game and expect everything to be done for them, they didnt build their teams and leagues up from nothing risking their own money. Many men failed along the way, its not a given it works, but they come waltzing in likem divas after everything is built, disrespecting men and barking orders, and expecting everything on platters.

Actually on the world scene, the women’s team is head and shoulders above the mens team....they are one of the best in the world and continually win their female version of the world cup...
That said AI is claiming the women’s team made $7.3 million from their last world cup in 2023....

It’s a catch-22. The men’s Team has never been better than top 16 or there abouts.... they have never won squat on the world stage. The Women’s team is always competing for the top brass Trophy. The difference being the Women’s world cup doesn’t generate anything in money compared to the men’s.
Estimates are that the total revenue for the men’s world cup is 6 billions dollars (all teams) The women is less than 200 million. (2022 numbers via AI))

When I look for a baseball game to watch on TV, there seems to be twice as many women's softball games being shown as MLB games.
