Two juveniles have been arrested after investigators accused them of sparking a devastating six-alarm blaze that tore through an empty Pennsylvania factory before leaping across the street and destroying houses, leaving dozens of people homeless.
The two youths, whose names have not been released due to their young ages, are being held on charges including arson, conspiracy, recklessly endangering another person and causing a catastrophe.
The arrests came two days after the massive inferno erupted in Allentown, sending towering flames and thick black smoke into the night sky as more than 100 firefighters battled to stop the blaze from swallowing an entire neighborhood.
Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca announced the charges on Friday, saying the investigation remains active.
Officials have not disclosed what investigators believe led the juveniles to allegedly start the fire.
The blaze broke out shortly before 8:40pm on Wednesday at a long-vacant furniture factory on North Front Street.
Within minutes, flames engulfed the aging industrial building before spreading to several occupied homes directly across the street.
Residents were forced to flee through their back doors as the flames encroached, while police shut down surrounding streets and urged nearby neighbors to shelter in place.

Kids or juveniles.
Could actually be Amish.
I thought the proper British phrasing would be "... as they are of tender age..."
Youtful indiscretions.
They need the electric chair.
It is long past time to end the policy of excusing and sheltering evildoers based on age.
No one is less dead or less injured because the act was done by a child.
Let me guess, it’s them again, Yogi.
Friends of ours live about a mile or so from there and have video. Crazy scary. Youths, yea right Yogi.
“Teens” is more like it. Typically that is the new code word for black youths.
Fire. The tool for economic, housing, and social justice. They will burn you out if you won’t get out.
Ah yes, nod to the song “Allentown” by Billy Joel.
Retired public high school teacher here. It was mostly the black kids who caused everyday trouble. Not following instructions, fighting in class, etc.
But the true psychos were almost always white.
So if I had to bet here, I’d bet two white kids.
"The neighborhood is burning down! Stay inside!"
Arson historically has always been a Capital offense, because it is arguably the most heinous of crimes. These mental defectives will probably get “community service” probation, or maybe wear an ankle monitor for 8 hours at home on alternate Thursdays during the New Moon.
U.S.A. hasn’t been a serious country in a long, long time. It’s a Joke. A very, very sick joke.
I still have that bookcase, 50 or so years later.
Some months afterwords, that wood warehouse caught fire and burnt to the ground. It was an old building, and arson wasn’t a factor, but it was quite the conflagration. It was a large multi-story building situated next to some railroad tracks. On one side of the tracks it was zoned for business (the side the warehouse was on) and the other side was zoned for residential. No homes lost, there were lots of evacuations for a time.
They had a great selection of fine woods, too. What a shame….
As for those kids, they are going to have to live with the memory of what they did. I can’t imagine what the legal system will do with them.
Well, there goes summer vacation...
“black kids who caused everyday trouble”
“But the true psychos were almost always white.”
I believe you.
