‘Matlock’ Writer Sues CBS Over Allegedly Racist and Sexual Comments

CBS Television Studios has been sued by a writer on Matlock, who accuses the show’s top brass of directing disparaging sexual and racist comments at him and other Black cast and crew members.

The writer, John Lowe, alleges in a lawsuit filed on Wednesday in California state court that Matlock‘s showrunner and executive producers created a hostile work environment “permeated by sexually explicit and discriminatory conduct.” He was terminated after allegedly reporting an incident in which his supervisor referred to Juneteenth as “Coonteenth.”

The real story, is that Hollywood liberals are racists in disguise.

The real story, is that Hollywood liberals are racists in disguise.

Even if they're racist, they're not stupid.

Saying "Coonteenth" does not sound plausible.

It's like telling a gay black man on a Chicago street at 4 a.m. "This is MAGA country."

Every incident of rudeness is not a guaranteed reason for a lawsuit or a ‘nice settlement’ to go away.
He waits 21 years to bring this up?
Must not have bothered him too much.

I was wondering about that, whether there was a reboot of Matlock that made this somehow relevant.

“He waits 21 years to bring this up?”

I’m sure he’s referring to the new Matlock with Kathy Bates.

Yes, there was. “Matlock” is a woman in the new show, but nothing like the original show story The storyline was okay, but there was too much LGBTQ+ nonsense.

That Matlock show earlier had a sudden end to a character:
David Del Rio, who played junior associate Billy Martinez, was abruptly fired from the CBS Matlock reboot. He was escorted off the set and written out of the show due to an investigation into a sexual assault allegation involving his co-star, Leah Lewis.

An internal investigation at CBS Studios was launched following a report made by Lewis regarding an incident.

Del Rio was dismissed and officially fired from the production in October 2025.
His character’s exit was finalized midseason when his character was written out of the narrative.
Del Rio has since filed an arbitration claim against CBS over his termination.

“..Yes, there was. “Matlock” is a woman in the new show, but nothing like the original show story The storyline was okay, but there was too much LGBTQ+ nonsense...’ I watched until that showed up. Then quit. 10 minutes in the new Nash Bridges the New Sargent is pointed out to be trans. 11 minutes in I was done.

This is the new Matlock, with Kathy Bates playing Andy Griffith. "Lowe was hired as an executive story editor for Matlock in October 2023"

“Will this term go viral now?”

Maybe it will.

Another one I saw saw yesterday is “watermelon felon”, which I thought was pretty funny.

I had forgotten about Kathy Bates recent role;
Though no longer ‘large’ she was certainly In Charge.

Kathy may be one of those rare people who look better when heavier. Although, that’s just my opinion.
John Goodman is another one.

There was too much of it to tolerate. One incidental, maybe. Every other show was disgusting. I stopped watching for that reason.
