Bonnie Tyler, a Welsh singer and songwriter, woke up from her medically induced coma on June 15, but she “remains very unwell” according to her official website, and she is in intensive care in Faro, Portugal.
“Although her condition is improving it is a slow process,” her website said. “Her doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time.”
The 75-year-old singer was rushed to the hospital on April 30, The U.S. Sun reported. Tyler was then put into a medically induced coma last month after complications from emergency intestinal surgery for severe tears in her bowels. She went into cardiac arrest when doctors tried to bring her out of the coma a few weeks ago.
“We would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support from all over the world that we have received for Bonnie and want to tell you that she is aware of, and very grateful for, your good wishes,” her team said.
Tyler is known for her number one power ballad, “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” which was released in 1983 and her other popular hit, “Holding Out for a Hero.” Tyler’s 2026 Jubilee tour kicked off on May 22, but her upcoming tour dates have either been canceled or postponed until next year as she recovers.
“Bonnie’s family continue to ask for privacy and promise that we will issue further updates as soon as there are significant developments to share.”

Forever’s gonna start tonight...
‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’ Singer Wakes Up From Coma. Wish her well a most unique singing voice.
I’m wondering how she could get severe tears in her bowels…..
She has given me much listening pleasure over the decades.
McDonnell-Douglas Delivers!
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
🙏🙏🙏
I (obviously) have my own thoughts on the matter; I may post them later.
From AI ...
Inflammation is a primary driver of bowel tears, as it weakens the intestinal wall through tissue damage and necrosis.
Appendicitis: Inflammation of the appendix is a leading cause, particularly in children and young adults. If untreated, pressure builds until the appendix bursts.
Diverticulitis: This occurs when small pouches (diverticula) in the colon wall become infected or inflamed. It is a very common cause of colon perforation in adults, especially those over middle age.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): Chronic conditions like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis cause ongoing inflammation that can erode the bowel wall over time, leading to perforation during severe flares.
Infections: Severe infections, such as those caused by C. difficile, can lead to full-thickness disruption of the bowel wall.

All of the above sound horrific.
Praying she can recover fully, with good health.
Cool scene from “Bandits”: dialogue between Cate Blanchett and Bruce Willis re: this song.

Thanks for posting. What a wonderful voice. Prayers for her, family, and friends.
She’s a favorite of mine along with other German, Irish, Welsh and Scottish singers.
Bonnie Tyler (Welsh). 75 years old.
Enya (Irish). 65 years old.
Nena (German). 66 years old.
Delores O’Riordan (Irish). RIP 2018. Age 46. Such an amazing voice.
David Bowie (British). RIP 2016. Age 69. I think I’m still in mourning.
Literal video - same video and music with lyrics changed to describe scenes in video. They’ve done many songs but this is one of the best. The one for “Safety Dance” is good too
Admittedly a distinctive voice. But calling her a singer is a stretch.
“I’ve always wondered who she had to hook up with to get a recording contract and on playlists. She cannot sing.”
WHAT????????????????????????????????????????????
I still play her songs today! I love them just as much as I did back then.
You have no idea what you are talking about
Bonnie Tyler, back in the day was very HOT! Man can she sing!
I LOVE what I call female power vocalists (screamers)
Pat Benatar, Martina McBride, Bonnie Tyler.
A bunch of years ago she had vocal cord surgery. She returned to singing, but it changed her voice. A bit lower register.
With aging and vocal cord surgery her voice just isn’t what it used to be.

I 1000% disagree with you ...
de gustibus non disputandam ...
The first time I heard that song, I thought it was Rod Stewart.
(Not being critical, just making an observation.)
Raspy voices, both of them.
