GOP's Mike Collins' chances of defeating Jon Ossoff in Georgia Senate Race
YAHOO ^

Cook Political Report has the race as leaning Democrat, an improvement for Ossoff from when Cook rated it a "toss up." Collins brings several potential strengths to a general election matchup. One is support from Trump. The endorsement is likely to energize the Republican base. Ossoff enters the race with a formidable financial position. He has built a large campaign war chest and outraised his Republican rivals, giving him a significant resource edge heading into the general election.

Once a reliably Republican state, Georgia has become one of the country's most competitive battlegrounds. For Ossoff, success may depend on maintaining his fundraising edge, appealing to suburban and independent voters, and capitalizing on the economic frustration among Georgians.

Just sent our guy $100-wouldn't do that normally. My small contributions go only to a potential pickup(check) with us running our top candidate(didn't happen). Our best chance would have been Governor Kemp who I would not have contributed to. There are enough republicans in Georgia so that if we support Collins like the democrats support Platner in Maine we could accomplish this. Odds are against it. How do you win with your 2nd tier candidate when the top one sits out? Not enough team players on our side but the hundred bucks means I haven't given up.

Assoff is cuter and younger, so more women will vote for him by default.

Kemp could have run and possibly won. He could have then become a Thomas Massie for the last 2 years of Trump’s term and then be free to be a Mitch or a Cruz. Perhaps he’s afraid of incumbency advantages. If it were ‘28 I’d say he’s afraid of blacks. My only other suggestion is he thinks of himself as a POTUS and every other office is beneath him. If he were to go in that direction he’d be as don’t-get-it as Massie and Cornyn. Tillis read the tea leaves.

Kalshi has Ossoff at an 81-84% probability for reelection. A lot can change in politics in a few months, but that is a heckuva lot of ground to cover.

There are two keys to Republican success in Georgia:

Vote!

and

Eliminate election fraud!

A new poll seems to indicate that the coming mid-term Blue Wave that the Dems have been predicting is fading fast.

Younger, definitely. Cuter, not in my opinion. He doesn’t ring any bells for me. But I’m not a Georgia voter.

It was republican women that put Bill Clinton over the top. The cad reminded women of their first husband when there was fun to be had. ‘43 reminded them of their current ones-no sale.

Obama-white guilt, good ‘family man’ and had BJ’s ‘cool’ factor going for him.

In GA R vs D
Collins vs Ossoff Sen
Jackson vs Bottoms Gov
Fleming vs Reynolds Sec of State
Are the 3 most important statewide races.

1) The only way any of thee 3 win is for both Trump and non-Trump Republicans to vote together for the same ticket. Only a coalition can win. The days of pure breeding are over.

The winner will also need to more things:
2) Turnout. In May 2026 far more Democrats than Republicans voted. My Condo Assn is mostly Republicans. But I am the only one who voted. That is typical of much of GA. Republican turnout, MAGA turnout is very, very low. In my experience a ground game either in churches, or in homes door to door is the only way to generate turnout. Does anyone know a proven social media way to generate turnout? So far, I haven’t seen it.

3) Message. Winning candidate Jackson was 70% negative throwing mud at Jones. Jones was 90% negative mud throwing and only 10% running for the legislature and not the governor positive. Dooley and Collins were all negative.

“Negative” campaigning depresses the voter turnout. But there are 2 types of negative campaigns.

a) Going negative against the other candidate, or against any public figure is one type of negativity.

b) Going negative against crime, against welfare fraud, etc is not turnout depressing if a positive alternative is offered.

4) Voters see thru rhetorical gimmicks. Promises to cut tax A are just a gimmick. If income tax is cut sales tax and property tax will increase. If Property tax is cut, then the other taxes will increase. Voters see thru false tax cut gimmicks.

The problem is spending, not taxes. Democrats can run on the Federal government borrowing more money to send to the states for Christmas all year. Republicans cannot run on that. They will lose more Republican votes than they will gain.

FRAUD WASTE ABUSE is one spending area that is big in GA and could be cut. The GA SWAMP would oppose cuts in FRAUD WASTE ABUSE. But they are few votes. Many independents would vote for a candidate that seemed serious about cutting FRAUD WASTE ABUSE.

If a Republican opposes cutting FRAUD WASTE ABUSE is he really a Republican?

Other issues? Street Crime is an issue. But I (and many) come from northern cities where crime is much worse than here. It should be in a list of issues. But short of a major crime event in Oct 2026 it alone will not motivate many.

Pro-life must be in the list. But it alone is no-longer the motivating issue it used to be.

Demagog. To run against Data Centers and similar demagogs can easily be ridiculed and then becomes a liability. We should be ridiculing the luddites on the other side.

MAGA POPULISM needs to be “personalized”. Heart tugging human interest stories need to be built that send a message for our side.

I'm surprised that this is not the strategy by the Democrats every time. JFK, Slick Willy, Obama. Trump won but look at his competition. Hillary and Kamala.

IF demp would get off his rear and clean up fulton, debalk and chatham like Desantis did in Florida this race is an easy one to win.

I’m polls imo are worthless, turnout is key in a just election. One proviso is that fraud must be near zero. Of course where the favorite is expected to win overwhelmingly, the only value would be if the actual difference was much closer.

Yer nuts but not to worry I live in Georgia and I live in reality. I know an large swath of Georgia Republican women and they ain’t voting for Ossoff.

The single and only reason Ossoff and Warnock are sitting in Georgia senate seats is election fraud.

I honestly believe the who would you rather have a beer with where the least looking at. Who the hell would I have a beer with Hillary or Kamala? That’s why Trump easily WON. Obama won because nobody wanted to have a beer with McCain or Romney. Clinton won because nobody wanted to have a beer with Dole or GHB.

This election will be won by the people who count votes in metro Atlanta.

NOTHING has changed since Trump lost Georgia in 2020.

Many top Republican candidates in the Deep South already lean to the Left.

Georgia is 33% Black.

Osoff held dual Australian citizenship through his mother. His father is Jewish.

Ossoff did not formally convert until prior to his bar mitzvah. Osoff noted that he grew up among Holocaust survivors and that this greatly influenced him and his worldviews.

Jews comprise about 1% of Georgia’s total population.

Blacks are 33%.

Ossoff’s votes on Jewish issues:

Approves Israel Munition gifts: Ossoff notably voted against blocking the sale of bomb guidance kits, arguing that these specific weapons are vital to Israel’s defense against constant rocket attacks from Iran, Hezbollah, and other regional proxies.

Combating Global Antisemitism: Ossoff strongly championed and led the Senate floor vote to confirm Dr. Deborah Lipstadt as the U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism. He has consistently issued statements condemning violent antisemitic attacks globally and locally in Georgia.

Osoff blanketed Israel w/ tax dollars: Ossoff has voted for billions of tax dollars in “security assistance,” military financing and gifts of US weaponry to Israel.
