Florida man calls cops while cops are trying to arrest him

Everyone knows you call the cops when you're in trouble.

Not everyone knows that you can also call the cops when you're in trouble with the cops.

According to [Florida Highway Patrol], a trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on I-75 by Corkscrew Road at around 7:49 a.m. The driver, identified as Luis Marin Gonzalez, 26, refused to provide ID, became agitated, and then put his window up.

Marin Gonzalez then called 911 mid-traffic stop, and the call went through to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, FHP said.

You gotta give him credit for originality. Most crooks will just make a run for it. Some of them might call their lawyer. It's rare that they call the very same people that are arresting them!

Mr. Gonzalez met a rather predictable fate in this exchange:

Troopers then boxed in Marin Gonzalez's vehicle and gave him opportunities to put his window down and cooperate, which he did not, according to FHP.

I sometimes watch sleazy lawyers on Youtube giving advice on what to say and do when you are pulled over. I swear the crap they tell you to do is only so you will get pulled out of your car and arrested.

So then you can call them to represent you.

I’ve seen YouTube body cam videos where they call 911 or their mothers or husbands. That hasn’t seemed to work to keep the cuffs off them yet—or their expensive door windows from being broken.

I’ve lived in Florida for almost 60 years.

As a young man I had a few run ins with local law enforcement and a few with state troopers.

With the local LEO’s being polite and doing as instructed kept me from taking a trip downtown on at least 3 occasions.

State troopers....best you can hope for is be polite, take your ticket without giving any lip.

This has been one of my peeves. 6 officers all yelling at the same time, sometimes conflicting orders.
I've never under stood why it isn't common practice for the first on site to be giving the orders and everyone else shut the hell up.
