Artist Siyuan Aw's debut picture book Our Wings As One began with a solitary journey to Mongolia, and an extraordinary meeting with a boy and his eagle – who taught him the strength to let go, and the courage to begin again.
The first time Siyuan Aw met Bekku, the 17-year-old was standing on top of his family’s hut somewhere in Mongolia’s Altai Mountains, phone raised skywards trying to catch a signal and frustrated by the choppy connection.
And then he called out to his golden eagle, which emerged from the clouds and landed on his outstretched arm. It was a bond unlike anything Aw had witnessed.
That encounter would eventually become the seed of a seven-year book journey, which resulted in Our Wings As One, a debut picture book that was recently shortlisted for the Hedwig Anuar Children’s Book Award 2026.

nickcarraway, you post many things, but do you realize that we’ve pushed God out of our culture so depression and fear have taken His place?
Do you understand that God has presented YOU a Special Opportunity to hear??

ONLY faith in Jesus Christ will bring peace to your heart and you’ll avoid wailing in Hell forever.
Long ago, God instructed the Jews to sacrifice a lamb to cover their sins. Finally, God sent His PERFECT LAMB, His own son, a ‘one time’ sacrifice who would shed His blood for a lost world. This shed blood would cover the sins of EVERYONE who would reach out to Jesus in faith.
ONLY thru God’s son, Jesus Christ, can you be saved. Not thru good works, not by going to Mass every day. Those things are all ‘works’ and Jesus did ALL the work on the cross. We will ONLY inherit eternal life by repenting of our sins then calling out to Jesus in faith, asking Him to forgive you, and lead you into a new life.
‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son, that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish, but have eternal life’ John 3:16
I believe this, but it is a complicated belief to get to.
I still want the book, but I can’t find a source for it.
