PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was shot and killed at a Royal Farms convenience store in Frankford Sunday night. Philadelphia police said the shooting may have been an act of self-defense.
It happened around 7:50 p.m. at the store on Church Street, off Aramingo Avenue, not far from the I-95 exit.
Officials said the 22-year-old victim walked into the store and approached the shooter. Surveillance footage shows them getting into a face-to-face altercation. Then, the 22-year-old pulls out a gun and points it at the man.
“This other individual, who we now know to be a 21-year-old Hispanic male, pulls out a gun himself and fires at least three times at the person who initially put a gun toward his head and neck area,” said Inspector D.F. Pace.
The victim tried to walk out of the store but collapsed. Officers took him to the hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.
Police said the shooter has a license to carry and is cooperating with the investigation.
In addition to the shooting, authorities said a 45-year-old man stood over the victim as he lay on the ground, took videos and pictures of him, then kicked his gun near some trash cans. That man is now in custody and being charged with tampering with a crime scene.
A bystander sensibly kicks the weapon out of the reach of the bad guy on the ground and HE gets charged with “tampering with evidence”?
Perhaps the man on the ground was reaching for his gun? They do it all the time on TV and in the movies. The prudent thing to do would be to kick the gun towards some trash cans.
I think he will beat that charg, buit of course it’s not a givene.

Who does that ? Oh, cool, this should be good for a couple of clicks.
Sounds like some gangland stunt. Send a picture of the deceased to his momma. They do that sort of chit.
I love a happy ending. *sniff*
Ping.
Maybe he wanted to confirm that he shot an armed man.
Don’t know the neighboorhood, but in some places it is not unknown for a bystander to take anything of value off the stiff before the coppers show up.

Pennsylvania Ping!
