On Tuesday’s CNN This Morning, host Audie Cornish asked — seemingly out of nowhere — during the Group Chat on the Texas GOP Senate primary runoff: “Is John Cornyn a RINO?”
Cornish did not mention or dispute Cornyn’s widely cited 99%+ voting alignment with President Trump on roll-call votes where Trump took a clear position.
Republican strategist Brad Todd pushed back immediately, saying: “No. And if John Cornyn wins tonight, this Texas Senate race is functionally over. He will be the next US Senator from Texas if he wins tonight.”

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
Cornyn would have voted AGAINST the SAVE AMERICA act if RINO THUNE had brought it up for a vote.
Probably the main reason it never came for a vote.
To protect Cornyn and the Alaska Kow.
Fortunately, I am unable to tell you which of the two on that TVZ screenshot is a RINO, a RINO-dupe, a CNN Washington Insider dupe, a RINO-GROPElite dupe, or a get-rich-off-of-repubbie-campaign-money-repubbie-insider.
(I would include “a legitimate conservative observer” but this is CNN. A legitimate conservative observer would not be allowed to speak on CNN.)
Wrong.
“Today on the floor, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) blasted Democrats for opposing the SAVE America Act, legislation currently being debated on the Senate floor that would secure America’s elections by requiring individuals to present proof of citizenship when registering to vote as well as photo identification before voting in a federal election.”
Ahhhh… talk is cheap. Just sayin’.
The latest season of congress critters getting primaried out is not just their conservative voting score. It’s that sliver of wobble and disloyalty in those moments when they are needed to tip a vote or to show some spunk in crucial moments, such as today’s SAVE discussion. In moments requiring courage, they seem to only hear the voices of Chuck and Hakeem.
When he went to the floor of the Senate and blasted Democrats for opposing the SAVE Act, that made it virtually impossible for him not to vote for it.
All hat, no cattle. He is what we call a dime-store cowboy.
Which is one of the reasons Thune couldn’t let it go forward. As soon as they vote on it, their names and positions are published.
Is Newsbusters full RINO, now? Maybe they long have been and I missed it.
Cornholio is RINO, through and through.
Hoping for a MAJOR PAXTON LANDSLIDE, tonight.
“ When he went to the floor of the Senate and blasted Democrats for opposing the SAVE Act, that made it virtually impossible for him not to vote for it.”

Well, CONVENIENTLY, he hasn’t had to vote on it yet.
Sadly, CNN is mentioning the Texas primary runoff today more than our city and county here in Central Texas are. Nothing on the front pages of their websites and, in the case of our city, nothing on their “Elections” webpage. It’s also like they are trying to dial back turnout to help Cornyn.
People who watch CNN dont vote in republican primaries...unless they are dims trying to help the RINO win...in which case, glad CNN isnt reminding them

He’s just talking
What is your point?
Can you name anything Cornyn has done in his 24 years as senator of Texas?
I can’t recall one single solitary thing that Cornyn has done FOR Texas.

Here’s my NewsBusters archive [governs=Finkelstein]. Please have a look and let me know if you think I’ve gone RINO.

NewsBusters traces its DNA to William F. Buckley, Jr. He famously counseled to vote for the most conservative who can win. Paxton certainly has a reasonable chance of beating Talarico, but the odds would be largely improved if Cornyn were the candidate.
Also, I question whether, at heart, Paxton is the more conservative of the two, or whether he is just the more opportunistic. Given his political and personal history, I have doubts about the sincerity or reliability of his positions.
Win reelection several times?
HAH! (Is the sarcasm tag really needed?)
