Three ruffians were busted on hate crime charges Monday for allegedly ransacking Midtown’s Church of Scientology earlier this month – after the NYPD released crazy footage of the photo-obsessed mob.
Jaelen Dinkens, 19, and Mohammed Amolegbe, 21, were charged with burglary, criminal mischief and assault – all as hate crimes – more than three weeks after the unruly crew of 31 people barreled through a locked side door of the West 46th Street premises while worshipers and visitors were attending a May 2 seminar, according to law enforcement sources.
Tashaun Simms, 28, was charged with obstructing governmental administration and tampering with physical evidence, the sources said.
Two of the suspects were charged with burglary, criminal mischief and assault – all as hate crimes – more than three weeks after the unruly youths barreled through a locked side door of the church, law enforcement sources said.
The NYPD released footage of the backpack-wearing, hoodie-donning suspects on Sunday. It showed some of them appearing to smirk as they barged into the facility, knocking over a storage container and nearly trampling over each other as one appeared to take photos and another sprayed silly string at a security camera.
The hooligans – who the church said appeared to have been inspired by a social media “speed running” trend – inflicted $10,000 worth of damages and kicked a 30-year-old male employee in leg, police said.

Not really sure who to root for on this one.....I am of the belief that the church of scientology is born straight out of hell......on the other hand, Jaelen, Mohammed and Tashaun need their little asses kicked up around their shoulders.

“Three ruffians”
Is that what we’re calling ‘em now?
Xenu sent them.
“Shut up Boo Boo. You already KNOW it’s them.”
Don’t forget hooligans. The article also identifies them as hooligans.
My Uncle Hoss had far more descriptive and colorful terms for them, but I’ll leave that alone for now.
scientology is such a freakin’ scam.
L. Ron Hubbard makes PT Barnum look like a amateur.
Ruffians. Hooligans.
Plus they were unruly.
L. Ron Hubbard
IIRC, he started Scientology on a bet.
The article says several times that what these teens did were hate crimes. It talks about spraying silly string.
How? How was any of this considered as hate crimes?
That term is overused.
The Church of Scientology has been advertising heavily in Southern California - I frequently hear their ads on a local radio station - pushing “Dianetics” as a “cure” for whatever problems you are having.
That said, I hope these “ruffians” (is that the new term for “teens”?) end up with severe punishments - but most likely will be “released to their parent” and that will be the end of it.
Parent = grandmother, auntie, group home or foster care.
When I saw that word, I thought it was from the UK.
I believe Scientology would call them “suppressive persons.”
I wouldn’t doubt it.....I saw a documentary about him a few years ago....I don’t recall that but I DO recall that dude was out there.
At the end of the day it’s just another cult.
I knew when they qualified for tax exempt status the world would be that much poorer for it......and I was right.
Leah Remini’s multi episode expose on it tells the REAL story.
> Parent = grandmother, auntie, group home or foster care. <
I taught for many years in a city high school. As part of the process, I’d call home if a student misbehaved. It was next to impossible to get ahold of a parent. And when I did, the conversation usually went nowhere.
But the grandmothers! They were almost always on my side.
Half of St. Petersburg Florida is owned by that cult.
A long read but well worth it IMO.

See Mindhead as portrayed in the film Bowfinger. (Great little comedy, it is).
I spent nine long hears in a big city high school. Yes, the grandmothers were usually on our side - but had NO control whatsoever over their teen charges and were powerless to control them.
Often the phone numbers we were given were disconnected - you’d go down all the emergency numbers - all disconnected. After caller ID came into effect, they’d ignore any numbers from the school or block us. A few brave staff used their own cell phones, something I would never do. I knew of no one who made home visits. My husband (admin) only visited homes with two-three others.
I made sure I logged each and every call I made and made a note of disconnected, blocked or calls that went instantly to voice mail. So when the admin inevitably asked “did you call home?” you had a log to show them.
“Jaelen Dinkens, Mohammed Amolegbe, Tashaun Simms”
Those wild and wacky Amish at it again.
Once again.
