Star Wars Franchise Faces Reckoning as ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ on Track to LOSE Money
Economic collapse ^ | 5-25-26 | Isaac Graham

Comparisons to “Solo” are particularly telling. That film disappointed in 2018, yet current adjusted figures show “The Mandalorian and Grogu” falling short even of that benchmark. International totals hover around $63 million for the opening, insufficient to guarantee profitability without exceptional word-of-mouth.

With theaters demanding their cut, breaking even requires the film to approach half a billion worldwide—a tall order given current trajectories.

They say total screen time for Pedro Pascal is less than 5 minutes! He has a stand in most of the time and is only really there when the helmet is off. They even use a digitized voice when he’s in the suit. Whole movie— 5 minutes. Disney did that, they say, because he had other projects to work on. Another day, another Disney flop.

"They say total screen time for Pedro Pascal is less than 5 minutes!"

The only memorable role I remember him in was as Oberyn Martell from Game of Thrones.

This seems like a TV movie spinoff that inexplicably got a theatrical release. It should be compared to something like Ewok Adventure and not movies with “Star Wars” in the title.

Hollywood has the go-to black guys like Morgan Freeman and Samuel L Jackson— Pedro pascal is the hispanic guy. hollywood would love to find a chinese leading man that people could stand to watch.

Imagine a couple (who are not Star Wars fans) out for an evening. And a movie with that name is playing at the local multiplex. I would pass on the weird name alone.

At least with “Titanic” you knew what you’re going to see.

A little off your topic but this is probably a harbinger of things to come.

CG, AI and other digital tools taking over for human actors is more than likely going to become the norm......and considering many of them being outspoken about their ignorant views of our country it can’t come soon enough if you ask me.

The Disney way is straight down the crapper. At least they have a fleet of very expensive cruise ships because their entertainment wing is hemorrhaging cash

and you have to factor in the economy. AI has made people hunger for quality and originality. People are picky where they spend what remains of their dollars these days. You aren’t going to throw it away on queer mickey mouse sh@&

Disney probably should have stuck with “Baby Yoda” for some more bucks.

A colleague who lives in Da Nang said that his 6yo son thought it was a really good movie, for whatever worth that may be.

I'm waiting for Pressure, hoping it is actually a decent movie.

In that season of Game of Thrones, if you remember his character was savagely ended by the Mountain when the crushed his head like a grape.

Pedro Pascal also played Joel in the HBO series “The Last of Us”, he was memorable in that series as well until the killed off his character and destroyed the series in the process.

Wonder if they'll photoshop the posters in Asia - as they did for "The Force Awakens" - looks like they don't like DEI casting any more than we do.

The problem is the studio execs are as bad as the actors.

So you wouldn't compare it to the Star Wars Holiday Special?
