The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is advancing quickly among Democrats, but the Constitution itself has the tools for defeating it.
Advancing the latest “progressive” scheme to upend our Constitution and make the people serve the government, Governor Abigail Spanberger has signed a bill forcing Virginia to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC). This ruse to overturn the Electoral College, a critical safeguard that ensures equal presidential representation for all Americans, is now just 48 votes away from national implementation.
The coalition seeks to force the presidential selection to be decided by popular vote alone. This would favor Democrats in two important ways, which is why Spanberger has speedily signed on. First, controlling the vote in America’s most densely populated cities would be a near-guaranteed national victory. Replete with Tammany Hall-style power dynamics and political horse-trading, these cities are already Democrat strongholds.
Second, with the SAVE America Act stalled, Democrats will keep peddling the lie that voter ID disenfranchises minorities, while flooding election offices everywhere possible with mail-in ballots of uncertain origin.
The NPVIC says that states collectively holding at least 270 Electoral College votes must pass laws assigning their Electoral College votes to the popular vote winner. As of now, 18 states and the District of Columbia have done this, for a total of 222 votes. None require photo ID at any point in the voting process, and all went for Kamala Harris.
According to the coalition website, “Six additional states with 65 electoral votes (Arizona, Michigan, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) are especially promising places for obtaining the 48 electoral votes needed before 2028.”
With the coalition falling hard on political lines, the situation is troubling. All six of their targeted states have gubernatorial elections this November

Of course they will try to do this. The states with no voter ID want to rule over all of us.
she is in the Biden model - lie to sound like a moderate in campaign, then govern extreme left. people ought to get the game now. who was the Dem who just wiped campaign rhetoric off website, indicating how he would act as representative had no relationship to that. the cat is more than out of the bag: it’s in 10ft indelible letters. ignore at your peril.
As a former agent of the CIA, she’s expertly trained in lying and deceiving the public.
She’s never read the Constitution.

Spamberger had to do something to make a living; I doubt she would have had a career as a model.
Take it to the Supremes.

The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact would (obviously) be a disaster for the Republic. I read the whole article. The tools mentioned above seem rather weak and open to interpretation.
I was hoping for something more direct.
On the other hand, Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution gives the states the freedom to appoint their electors as they see fit. This gives, on the surface, some support for the Compact. Of course the Founders did not mean it that way.
The Republican Congress needs to address this, and like right now. But of course they won’t.
And now a ray of hope: I suppose this will eventually be settled by the Supreme Court. And we have a conservative Court. For now, anyway.
Everything I read about the CIA is that it is anti-US which makes me wonder if that agency should be shut off.
I don't understand this initiative. It would seem to me that the States most likely to join this "Compact" would be leftist. Those EVs would normally ALL go to Democrats anyway. Hence, allocating those EVs according to the popular vote would have no impact unless swing States joined the group. Worse, with whatever conservatives within the blue States fleeing to red States, the blue States lose EVs, which has no long-term impact on the popular vote total but does decrease the EVs of the blue States as committed under the NPVIC.
Didn't Northam pull that too? I guess they're slow in Virginia, but then, many are government employees.
I don’t see how this could pass the Constitutionality test.
This would be very bad for America if my understanding is correct. Republican states might have a vote, but it would never count. The large population centers would win everything & that is not representative voting. As things stand these days it would send this country straight down the toilet; it would always be run by the Democrats.
The purpose is this: if they can cheat enough to “win” the popular vote nationwide, they have the White House - regardless of whether they would have won based on EVs. THEY will control counting the votes in their states, and will illegally run up the popular vote for their candidate.
That’s their plan - but, ironically, in 2024 it would have resulted in all of their EVs going to Trump. For normal people seeing that result, that should make them question the whole enterprise…which leads me to believe that they have specific plans to massively run up the popular vote in their states.
“she is in the Biden model - lie to sound like a moderate in campaign, then govern extreme left. “
Don’t forget Obama in 2008, pretending to be a moderate.
Spamburger is only a sock puppet. Likely not bright enough to come up with a “plan”.
One of commie Johnny Brennan’s hos?
Democrats will keep peddling the lie that minority voters are too stupid to be able to figure out how to get a voter ID,...
Fixed it.
The only realistic way for them to do that is to increase the number of illegals in swing States, but that's true anyway.
