Former Dem megadonor blasts 2024 autopsy as waste of time, says reasons for loss are obvious
Fox News ^ | 5/22/26 | Madison Colombo

A former Democratic megadonor blasted his party’s newly released election autopsy, arguing the party doesn't need a lengthy report to understand why voters rejected them.

John Morgan, who has previously given over a million dollars to the Democratic Party, revealed he didn’t give "a penny" to the 2024 campaign once Vice President Kamala Harris took the helm.

Speaking on "Jesse Watters Primetime," Morgan argued the DNC’s post-mortem report misses the mark, failing to address the party’s decision to embrace certain progressive social issues.

"I don't know what they spent on this autopsy, but they could have given me nothing and I could have done it in a few seconds," Morgan said Thursday.

He laid out that he believes the Democratic Party’s decision to embrace issues such as transgender athletes and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives hurt the party’s chances at the ballot box.

"One, DEI is D-E-A-D. Two, woke needs to be put to sleep. Three, transgender swimmers don't get to swim against girls, it's unfair. Four, you need to seal the border tight. And five, anything to do with Kamala or her staff," Morgan said. "That's the autopsy. Period, end of story."

The report itself, first released by CNN, takes a different perspective on the party’s 2024 election loss. It argues the party weakened its infrastructure through declining voter registration, cuts to state party support and a failure to listen to certain groups of voters.

What does that leave in the DEM’s platform? Abortion? Same sex marriage?

Simple. Normal people hate your support of criminals, illegals, weirdos, misfits, baby killers, trannies, homeless, drug addicts, fraudulent voters, unsafe public spaces, filthy cities, perverts, communism, crooks, charlatans, Somalis, and mountebanks. We hate you using our money on that agenda. We hate your guts.

Where do I send my $250k consultant invoice?

No, that's not the end of the story. There is much more to the story.

  1. Post October 11, the Democrats were seen as siding with the terrorists who were holding 251 Israeli and American hostages, while another 1,195 people were killed outright.

  2. College campus rallies led by Palestinian supporters were seen as a continuation of the 2020 "mostly peaceful" protests that Democrats allowed to happen in the cities they controlled. This turned off a majority of the American people. Left-wing Democrat activists tried to cloak the campus rallies and building takeovers as first amendment freedoms despite most of the agitators here on student visas with terrorism-adjacent support rallies as potentially deportable offenses.

  3. The snub of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro by the Harris campaign was seen as an anti-semitic signal in support of the college campus protests and as a slap in the face of the Democrat base's loyal Jewish voting bloc.

  4. The lack of progress within the Biden adminstration in getting the hostages released was seen as a competency failure, as well as a policy failure towards a long-standing ally in the region (Israel). Focusing on the "humanitarian" crisis that was self-inflicted by Hamas instead of on the unprovoked sneak attack on Jewish concert-goers further alienated voters who believed that the Democrats were losing their moral compass.

  5. Once President Trump was inaugurated and the hostage crisis was resolved with 168 hostages returned alive, this made it politically impossible for the Democrats to release the autopsy report that called out the Gaza policy as a significant factor in their 2024 defeat.

And now, the Democrats are stuck with Graham Platner running for the Senate in Maine, and Maureen Galindo running for the House in Texas. These candidacies will only reinforce the Biden Gaza policy "net-negative" problem for the Democrats.

Also, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani is refusing to attend traditional Jewish city festivities that prior mayors routinely attended, such as the upcoming Israel Day Parade. That sends a message, too, about the future direction of Democrat Party leadership.

Now compare the DNC so-called "autopsy" with the megadonor report from 2025 called Deciding To Win: Toward a Common Sense Renewal of the Democratic Party

The common view of the apolitical American is that the Democrats care about the working class economically, and the Republicans care about social and moral issues (read “God stuff and lawandorder”), so when the economy looks bad the Dems get the vote, and when the country looks like it’s going to hell, the GOP gets the vote.

There are two times in my lifetime a leader came who wasn’t specifically tied to a party and became POTUS anyway. The first was Eisenhower, who could just as well run as a Democrat and gotten elected—the main question of 1951 was which party he would choose.

The second time, of course, is now, with Trump. Imagine if Trump had come down the stairs in 2015 and announced he would run in the Democrat primaries, with the exact same platform as he ran on in the GOP? Would people have been just as likely to vote for him, because we promised to do what it was they wanted a President to do? I think he would have been just as much a populist, getting the Dem nomination and running against the RINO nominee, as he was getting the GOP nomination and running against the Dem establishment candidate, HRC.

Morgan is a Fetterman Democrat. There aren’t enough Fetterman-types to retake the party, so the Dems are going to collapse, unless they decide to to MASFT (Make American Soviet for the First Time), which is what the radicals want.

“Reasons are obvious”

Obvious to some. But not to others. This is a common trait.
Both when a D, and when an R lose an election it is not obvious to them why they lost.

I lean libertarian. Libertarians tend to be certain that they are right. It is not obvious to them why they lose. The same is true of most 2026 Democrats. Example The MSM does articles on potential 2028 candidates .. Harris, Newsom, Pritzker, etc. They are blind to the fact that Stephen A Smith of ESPN is currently the strongest Democrat candidate for 2028. Mark Cuban is probably 2d strongest. But they are blind.

On our side, we have the same human defect as other humans. We do not want to face the reality the the current war in Iran is contrary to everything Trump campaigned on and said as recently as the mass bombing of nuclear sites in Iran.
We do not want to face the reality that a focus on Epstein will only titillate the masses and will not produce anything useful.
We do not want to face the reality that pro-lifers in the MAGA coalition sit beside illegals in church every Sunday and do not want to deport (and depopulate) their church with “good” illegals.

Of course, the left is currently in are much more severe case of denial of reality than the right is.

Is he the same John Morgan of the Morgan and Morgan law firm?

As soon as I would start to hear one of his ads on the radio, I turned it off.

I think the key issue is the split between “Leftist” and “Liberal”.

The Liberals are do-gooders who like to feel smug and morally superior. They like DEI. They like woke. They like transgenders. They are “Karens” who want to speak to the manager. Liberals are not serious people at all, and a very large percentage of the population really despises them. Somebody like Kamala wasn’t going to win the election — because she put her eggs in the Liberal basket.

The Leftists are different. They want the revolution. They want major economic reform. They want to overturn the system. They aren’t going to waste their time on frivolous things like DEI or woke nonsense. And I have to say that a fair percentage of the population is currently finding some essential stuff (housing, healthcare, child care, etc) just “unaffordable”. The Leftist people could attract some support if they claim that they can help people who are struggling.

I think the mid-terms election are going to be about affordability a lot more than they are about DEI.

There is only one meta-theme of the mid-terms (and it will give us more than a 10 point advantage):

Trump will prevent democrat election fraud.

They got away with running sham candidates Obama in 2008 and Biden in 2020.

Harris in 2024 was simply a bridge too far.
