My friend’s sister recently had a double mastectomy she is 36 yrs old found the cancer early thank God..now has to take tamoxifin for 10 yrs to prevent recurrence. Praying for Vanessa and her family hopefully it was found early
My now passed oldest friend's husband has a twin sister. They are about 80 now. Their family was riddled with all types of cancer. Breast and cervical cancer, as well as stomach cancer and cancer of the esophagus took several of their siblings and nieces. Many years ago, the twins took the test to find out about their chances of getting cancer. His test was negative. Hers was positive. The doctor told her it wasn't a matter of if she'd get cancer, it was a matter of when she'd get it. She had both her breasts removed, and had reconstructive surgery. That had to be at least 20 years ago. She remains cancer-free.
Her brother, my best friend's husband was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx and pharynx about 10 years ago. He went through intensive radiation and chemo treatments. The radiation changed his facial structure so much, that the first time I saw him after his treatments ended, I didn't recognize him. The radiation also destroyed his salivary glands. He cannot produce saliva at all. He's still cancer free. Everybody figured he'd be the one to pass first, but his wife, my best friend for over 40 years died from Covid last June. She'd been a smoker for many years, was diagnosed with COPD about 15 years ago, and the Covid finished destroying her lungs.
