Maybe we should have less interest in Group Identity. You aren’t special just because of your ancestry. Just be yourself. Treat others as individuals.
When my mother and her siblings were in elementary school, some children talked (bragged?) about their family’s heritage. The children asked my grandfather, “What are we?” He replied, “You aint nothin but a bunch of Spanish-American Arabs.” That put an end to conversation. In truth their background can be traced back to immigration from England in the middle of the 17th century.
