1,700 stranded on cruise ship in France after traveler’s death blamed on norovirus

More than 1,700 people are trapped aboard a cruise ship docked in France after a 90-year-old passenger died from suspected norovirus — just days after a separate virus killed three and sickened multiple others on a different cruise.

Passengers and crew traveling on the Ambassador Cruise Line are being forced to remain on the vessel after arriving in Bordeaux on Tuesday, French authorities said.

The quarantine comes after an elderly passenger died after roughly 50 people started showing symptoms of norovirus — a highly contagious stomach virus that causes diarrhea and vomiting.

The ship, which is carrying mostly British and Irish travelers, had set off from the Shetland Islands on May 6.

The outbreak came just days after passengers stranded on the MV Hondius were finally evacuated after a rare outbreak of hantavirus killed three people and sickened multiple others.

A French woman infected in the hantavirus outbreak is currently critically ill in a Paris hospital after developing a severe form of the disease that has caused life-threatening lung and heart problems.

The woman remains on a life-support device that pumps blood through an artificial lung, providing it with oxygen and returning it to the body, said Dr Xavier Lescure, an infectious disease specialist at Bichat Hospital.

I'm cheap. Currently looking for deep discounts before boarding any death ship with projectile vomiting.

This is what? The 20th or 30th story about some ghastly virus on a cruise ship that caused death or a quarantine? Combine that with the viral videos of the low rent fights and ghetto behavior on a lot of cruise lines and its a wonder that any of them still are in business.

Wonder if this will be the death knell of the cruise industry.

They need to save some ink with these headlines and just go ahead and combine these viruses. Imagine the terror of the quarantined cruise ship with a Cohantorovid virus outbreak? Hell, Fauci may have to come out of pardon retirement and save the world again.

I’m cruising in France and Italy in September. It would be a damn shame if I got trapped on the ship for an extra week.

I get that a 90 yr old might die from Norovirus, especially if the medical personnel let her get dangerously dehydrated and didn’t start an IV soon enough but Noro isn’t that deadly, just deeply unpleasant and highly contagious, especially when the stupid people don’t understand handwashing and disinfecting handles and doorknobs.

So I don’t understand why they’ve trapped everyone on the ship.

One guy dies of food poisoning from an intestinal virus and they quarantine the ship because 3 people died of a respiratory virus that is completely different, in a different part of the world and at a different time. The only similarity is that they were both viruses. It is not really news. I suspect that the people who die of norovirus are already at risk for dying of something else. I can’t see dying from diarrhea except that it screws with your electrolytes and for some people it can be fatal. Low salt diets and diuretics are common treatments for hypertension. I nearly died on a ten day hike because I kept taking a diuretic which was stupid especially since I didn’t have any business taking a ten day hike.

It is ten years since I was on a Mediteraian cruise ship. Noroviirus was notorious then, just as now. This is not new or news.

Except, of course, those who got power and rich off the Vax/WuhanFlu scam.

The author and NY post have no journalistic integrity to post this without any mention of the fact that there have been millions and millions of cases of norovirus every year in the USA for decades.

This kind of writing is a real scandal, they make it sound like it’s an exotic disease and an unusual occurrence. No respect for the truth, they are very happy to mislead and misinform their readers.

Just disgusting
