I have a couple of friends who are liberals -- not those liberals who have reached what I call “the incurable terminal stage.” Nor are they the psychotics who, the moment they are exposed to facts or viewpoints different from theirs become wild-eyed and hysterical. Even so, on certain topics their ability to reason seems to break down.
A couple of months back, the issue of illegal aliens came up. They voiced the usual talking points on the topic: the aliens are just trying to build a better life, they pay taxes, only a few commit crimes, etc. They did not state they are being kidnapped and put in concentration camps. I countered with the usual arguments: they have entered the country illegally, many are engaged in horrific crimes, they are using up the welfare system, that Democrats have been employing illegal aliens to engage in fraudulent elections.
Nothing works.
So I’ve decided on a different tack. Since we were scheduled to meet in a month, I would record the number of crimes committed by illegal aliens in one month.
Even I was shocked:
- A Pakistani killed an American in a head-on collision.
- A Guatemalan raped an underage girl in Florida.
- Another Guatemalan murdered a young teenage boy, luring him with the promise of sex.
- In South Carolina, an illegal immigrant who was so drunk he could not stand was driving a vehicle and killed two black children on their bicycles.
= In a San Antonio, Texas park, an illegal immigrant punched a Mexican-American mother in the face, then proceeded to bite the face of her three-year-old daughter, who also lost two teeth.
- An illegal alien from El Salvador stabbed to death two women at a Wendy’s. ..............

I have long since given up on engaging with liberals. I was naive, I thought if I gave liberal friends and family information, it would cause them to re-examine their positions. Nope. Just made them angry and confrontational.
Many will not change their minds until THEY are victims of a crime by an illegal.
With thick headed libs the only thing that wakes them up is when something happens to them.
Until they’re the one’s that get robbed, raped or they themselves nearly get killed by an illegal you can’t get through to ‘em.
Unfortunately by that time it’s too late.

I have an old friend from high school who has drifted leftward. We had a long discussion one time and he said that the right was closed minded. A while later, I refuted one of his arguments with facts. His response, “I don’t believe that’s true.”

Reason v irrational

I had a conversation with a liberal friend about the two ICE events in Minnesota that resulted in death. The first occurred when a woman, protesting ICE and obstructing, tried to run over an ICE agent. He felt that her actions were ‘legal’ and she should not have been shot. The second was the unemployed nurses who took a gun to a protest and confronted ICE. He was shot (I believe this was a mistaken tragedy) and killed. Again he felt that obstructing IFE was legal. Those two death weighed heavily on his mind.
Then I asked how many innocent, not looking for trouble or protesting armed, people were killed by illegals. His face went blank, he had no idea. He had never looked into any innocent people killed by illegals let into the country by liberals ignoring the laws. When I mentioned that his views had large amounts of innocent blood on his hands he was clearly visibly shaken.
Next time you meet a liberal ask them for the score of ‘innocents dead’ by illegals versus ICE operations to remove the people allowed in illegally.
The derangement this type of conditioning produces is physical, stored in long term implicit memory. The response set is entirely emotional and reactive. The only thing that can crack it is trauma.
You’ve got to put 2 facts together where they come up with a conclusion thinking they came up with it.

Side note, when told that illegals commit few crimes than citizens…. I reply that if the illegals were not here 0% of the crimes they committed would have happened. Crime is not a zero sum game🤔
The opposite of irrational isn’t reason, but force.

Incurable
If you cite statistics indicating that Illegals commit proportionally more crime (in certain categories), they will counter with, "You aren't accounting for the fact that these 'migrants' are poorer, younger, more male, and hence shouldn't be compared with Americans at large!"
They don't seem to be able to wrap their minds around the concept that they shouldn't be here, committing crimes, at all!"
Don't forget that they can also always fall back on truly crazy arguments like "No one is illegal on 'Stolen Land!'", "We owe them reparations!", etc.
