Usually, having an armed officer at school sort of helps deter the whole school shooting thing. I'm not sure if that's the case here.
They still haven't found the gun!
Here's what happened.

This happened just before school let out on Monday, so at least there wasn't much left of the day (I guess?).
The police are calling this "unfortunate and embarrassing," but that's not even the half of it. It's a lost gun on school property.
More from that story above:
Authorities say hallway surveillance images indicate that a limited number of people entered the restroom, but authorities have still not been able to track down the firearm.
So today's classes are canceled.
Fortunately, it's both Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday, so at least somewhere in the Chicago burbs there's a kid eating tacos at a Mexican joint shooting off a pistol like Yosemite Sam as he loads them up with hot sauce.
Let's just hope they've got some of those churro donuts for the officer who lost the gun so he'll coincidentally be there too, and we can be done with the search.
Seriously, though, I hope this thing turns up.

One Teacher remarked: “The older children showed a higher rate of voluntary participation for this scavenger style hunt, compared to the
Easter Egg Hunts we organized last month.”
This is not Chicago. It’s Arlington Heights, a fairly well off burb. Still embarrassing. The snowflake moms would have kept the kids home anyway.
Annie Oakley?
They use pseudonyms at that site............
Quick! Hakeem, Nancy and Chuck!!!!
Hire this guy for the Capitol Police before some other agency snatches him up!!!!!
A GUN CAN BE PRETTY HEAVY IN A HOLSTER-—HOW LONG DID HE TAKE TO REALIZE IT WAS “MISSING”.
RODE MANY A MILE ON HORSEBACK IN SPRING TIME TRAINING VS RATTLESNAKES WITH A.38 IN A HOLSTER. USED IT PLENTY.
“Shortly AFTER SCHOOL WAS OUT”...........
And remember, only the police should have firearms.
What do you suppose would happen to a “civilian” if they did this same thing?
Officer Fife reporting for duty!

Nice that Danny Devito volunteered to help out!
