Matcha has the same benefits, only more of them. And its component, EGCG nearly doubles calorie burn rate, aiding weight loss.

I like matcha, but the first cuppa of the day (half hour after drinking water first thing) is coffee. Strong. Black. Proud.

After that. Matcha. Rishi. Ginger Turmeric tea...

It’s odd how coffee has been the culprit of problems & conversely, it’s good for us. I don’t have the answer, but have been a coffee drinker since leaving the military, using a low amount(always less than 4 cups a day)and at 88 years old, I think I am in better than average condition.

It is the polyphenols in coffee that produce that benefit. Coffee is one of the biggest contributors of polyphenols in the average American diet (because a lot of people drink it, and it is a rich source).

Other particularly rich sources include tea, pomegranates, dark chocolate, olive oil, berries (especially wild blueberries), and apples.

Fiber and polyphenols are like food and fertilizer for many beneficial strains of probiotics. Some of the good ones will starve away, if there is little to no polyphenols in the diet. Those beneficial bacteria provide profound benefits - Improving mood, reducing body fat, reducing inflammation throughout the body, improving disease resistance, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and dementia.

Antibiotics kill off a lot of beneficial bacteria, as well as the bad ones, so make a special effort to reintroduce and feed them after a course of antibiotics.

Good for you! I’m 74, but I don’t drink much coffee; I want it if I have eggs or a piece of pie, but just to drink it for the fun of it, not I.

................................”You may be comatose all day, but smarter.”

LOL. Actually, if they gave out trophies for sleeping, I’d have them all over the house. Up early today because golf on TV and cat and I need food first. And coffee, ready now.

now I’m going to cry.

All that exercise sounds wonderful. And familiar. Until two years ago, I was the gym every day, in terrific shape, nice ladylike muscles showing in upper arms, did a 14-minute mile on the treadmill daily. Then health went to hell in a hand basket, vision especially since corneal transplant. $$$$$ and didn’t improve sight. Got rid of car., Stuck with walks around the block when weather is OK.

(Bitching and whining doesn’t help either. ). Anyway, you’re an inspiration. Keep up the good work. BTW, I’ll be 90 next month. Weigh 112, so at least that’s still OK.

Your mind is still sharp. So can never give up doing anything possible to keep on trucking. My last eye exam in February this year I have 20-20 vision in both eyes. One eye has artificial lense after cataract surgery. The eye doc said I am blessed. I think it is all because of daily exercise, not smoking, no alcohol and half my calories are from fruits & veggies, the fresh kind, not the powder in a bottle.
