Iconic rock star Dave Mason, who found fame as the lead singer and co-founder of Traffic, alongside Chris Wood, Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi died on Sunday, April 19, at the age of 79. His family confirmed the news in a statement issued by his rep. No cause of death was revealed, but it read: "On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dave Mason. On Sunday, April 19, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, celebrated songwriter, musician, singer, and author, passed away peacefully at his home in Gardnerville, NV. Do you think the spirit of Dave Mason is now in heaven? I hope so.
If YOU DIE tonight, where will YOU spend eternity?
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6 (the Bible)
Dang it, I always loved that sone, sad to see him go.
I guess I’ve reached that age where many of the artists and stars of my era a dying off.
Great version all along the watchtower
I can remember when mother showed me an obituary for an actress in the paper that I’d never heard of. Then I went to a store looking for a CD of Peter, Paul and Mary and the clerk had never heard of them. Really makes you realize history is divided into chunks by people’s lifetimes.
Good way to go, though hard on those left behind.
Yes, this really hit me when I was in a record store about 20 years ago and I overheard two young girls as they were looking over the rack of new CD releases. One of them picked up a CD and looked at it and said, "Who is Paul McCartney?" The other girl disinterestingly replied "I have no idea."
That reminds me also of the time when one of the duets between McCartney and Michael Jackson came out. I remember a comment I read about it which in all seriousness said, "I don't know who this McCartney guy is, but singing with Michael Jackson is sure going to make him famous!"
Things that make you feel old.
GREAT story!
We saw him at our local casino few years back. Price was so low. He was so good. Worth more. Few years later he was doing real concerts with a worthy price. Guy was really part of the scene.
May his journey be a good one and the mystic traveler brings him safely home.

Tributes cannot be heartbroken. Contributors can. Heartbroken contributors can contribute tributes reflecting their heartbroken status.
Hope his soul is feelin’ alright
Me too. Mason was a very talented musician, though at points he had a reputation for being difficult to work with. There's not much out there to answer your question: If Mason was a Christian, he did little, unlike many rockers who became Christians or returned to Christ, to witness it.* My web searches turned up nothing... :-(
He did do a lot of good philanthropic work, much of it based around music. Wikipedia has a pretty good article on Mason:

For years I assumed Dave Mason had at least briefly been in the band "Mason Proffit", best known for "Two Hangmen", but, he was not.

Well, I'd like to think my acceptance of Jesus is "good enough", but I guess I won't really know until I get there. Jesus often spoke of the difficulty of have enough faith to make the grade...

Me , too . Bought the first 4 albums but it was the first 2 with Mason I really dug . I also bought Mason’s first album , the limited edition one with marble vinyl , jacket with tri-fold and a half-pocket on the inside to hold the record .
