Approximately 40% of commercial food is wasted in the United States, which translates to about 66 billion pounds of food waste annually. This waste primarily comes from restaurants, which waste between 4% and 10% of all food purchased, with 15% ending up in landfills. The food industry faces significant challenges in reducing waste, with efforts to recycle and donate food being minimal compared to the overall waste.
Because if the customer gets a mere tummyache they sue the restaraunt.
Do gasoline and home heating oil now.
When it is appropriate I am simply brimming with optimism. It is an opinion board. My opinion is that the track record for improvements in such things as this is pretty dismal. At least the egg prices went down.
I bought a dozen eggs for 77 cents the other day. Still refuse to pay the price for anything but hamburger when it comes to beef though.
That’s why I quit Sam’s. Disgusting. I can only imagine it has something to do with State government requirements...health and safety you know. For people who are too stupid to freeze or cook meat properly.
Yup! We love London broil—haven’t had it for a long time!
” At least the egg prices went down.”
There ya go!.....now was that so hard? 😁
Bet that’s “IMPLICIT” collusion, as opposed to “explicit.”
implicit collusion may mean “we have zero evidence of any actual collusion” but based on our theory of how pricing works, it’s gotta be collusion. Because corporations. because profits.
Bingo.
Heard somebody discussing this once & he said they made more money throwing it out than they did discounting it. That really sounds stupid to me if true (he explained it) but what a senseless waste!
Well, if that meat was kept a short while & got food poisoning.....that is no fun, it makes you really sick & maybe the seller should be open to lawsuit for a dumb stunt like “date of sale expired product”.
