If you believe that a week of paternity leave is more important than winning a baseball game, that’s fine. Get another job. There are plenty of jobs where taking off a week for the birth of a child isn’t a problem. But if you’re playing baseball at the elite level and you’re getting paid millions a year to do so, you should be expected to make competing the whole season a priority. If you can’t do that, get another job.
