If it was a secrets-for-cash operation that could explain the disappearances and deaths, possibly. But there was a weird disappearance 2 yeas ago. One moment she was there, the next gone. That’s Black Program stuff imo.

Having lived in ABQ in the mid ‘90s I’ll say this, Breaking Bad and BCS really captured the flavor of it. But it’s not all TV show there.
All of the territory north of Fanta Se is notoriously dangerous country. East of the Manzanos too.
I see you live in AZ. I’m not sure NM holds a candle to what goes on there. But you can step into the wild west in a heartbeat in either state.
All I can reasonably make out of this mystery is nothing. It’s one of those things where if I’m hesitant to come up with a theory, it’s not because I’m lost, it’s more like it being lost on me. I don’t see where there are a whole lot of connectable dots yet. Maybe later.
Maybe it’s a John Gault thing where the characters morph into different actors throughout the adventure. And they’re all hiding in some hidden place where they have taken an oath to not give a crap about anything.
