“Beelzebul or Belzebuth, and occasionally known as the Lord of the Flies”

So why didn't these kids succumb? The first thing I thought was that they were operating under different principles.
“The protagonists were six boys – Sione, Stephen, Kolo, David, Luke and Mano – all pupils at a strict Catholic boarding school “

They were taught to live the Virtues especially Faith, Hope and Love. No doubt that saved their lives.
Wonderful story for Easter.

“Lord of the Flies” was one of many false narratives we have been sold.

I remember seeing the movie on TV when I was perhaps ten or eleven. It changed my understanding of human nature in a less-than-helpful way. Truly disturbing. I was pretty good for a few decades thereafter, though, regardless, so far as faith in my fellow man was concerned. And then the pandemic hit...

The Finnish band Nightwish wrote a song about it:

Lord of the flies is the single best lesson on leadership in the history of cinema. It is used to this day at USMC NCO school.

Moral of the story...When the people in charge don't take charge, the troublemakers do.

Such a simple and obvious concept.

Too bad Trump didn't reflect on this lesson before he gave team Hillary a pass.

Flame away, but ... there were no females on the island. If there had been, there would have been trouble.

Human nature

Which is part of why women in front line combat units is a bad idea.

I read the linked story with the good ending.

After the story, the guardian goes into a TDS rant to push a narrative of something imagined.

I love survival stories. For a couple years there I devoured any and all I could find. Shipwreck, Plane crashes. Lost in the woods. Prison camp escapes, etc.

I did not know about this one. Thanks for posting!
