A Canadian woman who went to the emergency room with back pain said she was left shocked when a doctor immediately floated the suggestion of euthanasia.
Miriam Lancaster, 84, was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital last April with a fractured sacrum, a break at the base of the spine relatively frequent in elderly people.
Lancaster said she was stunned by the doctors' immediate suggestion upon examination.
‘I was approached by a young lady doctor whose very first words out of her mouth is we would like to offer you [euthanasia],’ Lancaster said in a video posted on X.
The retired piano teacher said she just wanted to find out why she was in pain and had never considered a medically-assisted death.
'That was the last thing on my mind,' Lancaster added. 'I did not want to die.'
She said that she had been most upset by the ‘timing’ of the request.
‘A patient is already upset and disoriented and wishing they weren’t there,’ she told the National Post. ‘To give them a decision, a life-terminating decision, when they are in this condition, that’s what I object to.’
Lancaster added that she was not thinking about 'cashing my chips,' which her daughter agreed with.
'To be offered [euthanasia] right off the bat for a non-life-threatening condition? It was a matter of pain management,' she said. 'Just because someone is 84 does not mean they're ready to go on the scrap heap of life.'
She called the hospital's treatment of her mother an 'insult to seniors.'
Euthanasia is legal in Canada for those who are 18 and over, able to make decisions for themselves and have a 'grievous and irremediable medical condition.'

Come on Miriam. You should know that every Cad$ the Great Nation of Canada spends on you is a $ less for newcomers. Plus euthansia guarantees you will be pain free, something other options cannot promise. Do you or do you not want to be pain free ?

These Canadian euthanasia murderer doctors should be placed on a list of undesirables and denied entry into the US. We put Kevorkian in prison for life for this crap back when we had sane people in government.
Euthanasia should be moved up the chain. Start offering the option early during medical care starting with say.. a fractured arm, seasonal flu, sprained ankle.. One injection and you are free of pain.

Wow I just got out of the hospital last Tuesday here in New York after a bout with some nasty pneumonia and pleurisy which good God was hands down the most painful thing I ever experienced in my life. Just breathing in the slightest felt like getting chainsawed in half. I was begging them for morphine which they wouldn’t give me to me I assume because of breathing.
The worst was the cat scan where I had to lay on my back and the pain was so severe I couldnt keep still and spent the entire night in agony completely out of my mind. So imagine instead of painkillers they asked me if I wanted to be euthanized and I said yes out of desperation? Because I was nuts in pain? Unbelievable that she would be asked that
The Canadians might be diehard Socialists, but they are excellent Economists.
It is far cheaper to euthanize a human being than it is to patch them up in a hospital.

You hope. Not everyone believes that everyone will be pain free after euthanasia; some believe there will be burning pains for some.
Well, obviously the Covid shot she was forced to take didn’t kill her so they offer another alternative.

In Europe when euthanasia became the norm, old people feared going to the doctor fearing he might on his own decide the patient had “no quality of life “ left and kill them.
Now Canadians better look out! I hear selling body parts is making a great “killing” in the medical field.
