How Is Blue State's Plan to Replace Taxpayers With Migrants Going? About Like You'd Expect
RedState ^ | 3/27/2026 | Becky Noble

We have long heard about the financial plights of solidly blue states. Places like New York and California have the highest taxes and the highest costs of living in the country. But there is a new blue state story where Democrats refuse to back off their ideological insistence that high taxes will get their state to the fiscal promised land. That place is Massachusetts.

Massachusetts is on the verge of a financial implosion. The reason: Massachusetts Democrats' grand plan to replace the state's taxpayers with migrants is not the grand plan they expected it would be, and the state is in for a perfect storm.

During the Biden-era open border policy era, the state's population increased from 2023 to 2024, but when Donald Trump took office and closed the border, that population surge stopped and fell by more than half. The population problem is two-fold: the decrease in immigration and residents leaving the Bay State for greener, less taxed states. Massachusetts now stands at number 47 in population gain, and a loss of 30,474 residents.

You might think that Massachusetts' elected officials would start connecting the dots. But that is not what is happening. In fact, just the opposite, Massachusetts has imposed a millionaire tax, which is, of course, further contributing to the mass exodus of residents fleeing the state. Over the last year, Massachusetts has lost a whopping $4 billion in taxable revenue. And as you might expect, roughly 70 percent of that comes from the state's wealthiest residents.

A recent study from the Pioneer Institute showed that in 2023, the first full year after the state imposed a four percent wealth tax, Massachusetts lost nearly double that amount of adjusted gross income (AGI) than any year before 2020. The study went on to say,

“Massachusetts’ net loss of AGI to other states grew from roughly $900 million in 2012 to $4.18 billion in 2023, representing a 467 percent increase over the past decade."

The Pioneer Institute's Jim Stergios had this to say about Massachusetts' predicament:

“Massachusetts’ losses are concerning because they are big, broad and persistent year after year. We are losing key working-age and pre-retirement cohorts—even as federal policy changes have shut off immigrant labor. That combination poses real risks for the state’s labor force, tax base, and long-term economic vitality. The question is: Are elected officials getting the message?”

The AGI loss is being felt in business, home sales, and even in education. But as stated above, what is Massachusetts politicians' answer to this mess? Not only are they not making any cuts in government spending, but they are convinced that taxing residents will vault the state into financial success.

Blue state politicians are not learning anytime soon that if you tax them, they will leave.

Problem is.....many of the escapees are liberal voters, who then contaminate the electorate in the free states that allowed them to escape Taxachusetts.

Once again someone is not thinking like a democrat. They don’t care if the state finances are ruined, they only care about staying in power. Black and brown immigration is the only way they can guarantee that. Their plan is working exactly the way it’s supposed to.

I was talking to someone the other day about the impact of aliens in MA. They were telling me it wasn’t that bad. I asked her where we were putting the 20,000 more students in our school systems. I asked her how many new teachers we were hiring? I wondered how many of them got new school desks at $1,000 apiece. And that the annual cost per additional student was going to be on our books for about 8-10 years until these kids graduate.;

My argument had nothing to do with “DEPORT THEM ALL!!!” It had to do with the incremental cost to the state for every new person….just for schools.

The kid hadn’t thought of it that way.

Duh.

Why can’t the GOP run ads about THAT stuff instead of Bald Eagles, Pick Up Trucks, and country music?

The plan was to get as many freeloaders there as possible in order to defraud the taxpayers.

There are several demographic factors at work.
1) Blacks and Whites are not having enough babies at a replacement rate. Hispanics are. Increasingly the young are Hispanic Catholics & Pentecostals ... not Presbyterians or Methodistsn or aetheists.

2) Lesser ethnic groups like Somalis are in much lesser numbers but highly visible and give the impression that they are more than they really are.

3) Historically immigrants (both legal and illegal) have had a very low rate of usage of welfare programs. The embarrassment of admitting he can’t provide for his family was to be avoided at all costs. Of course, sending the wife and kids to work was OK. The kids learned the work ethic (just as I did working as a kid).

4) Then the “well intentioned” came in with “refugee aid” which was welfare for “refugees”. Biden expanded it to “aid for every immigrant” and also greatly expanded immigration to attract those who came, not for the American dream of working hard and owning you own home...but to exploit the Biden give-away. One of the reasons immigration increased under Biden was that immigrants no longer had to work... There was FREE MONEY.

5) We need to clearly set a policy of no welfare for immigrants... not for illegal immigrants ... not for legal immigrants. No welfare for kids of immigrants.

6) We need to clearly make a distinction between the murderers, rapists... DUI Drivers, Drunk n Disorderly
and
those who work hard, take care of their family and are an asset as replacement workers when the birth rate of citizens is so low.

7) If I had my way I would behavior out and age out citizens from collecting welfare. Kids should be taught in school and public service ads on TV should inform that starting next year no new applications for welfare will be accepted for those 18 and older. Each subsequent year, no new people on welfare.

If I could figure out a way to avoid WFA Waste Fraud Abuse I would use some of the money that previously went to welfare to fund scholarships to college and to trade schools, engineering schools, etc.
