A Central Florida grandmother is demanding justice after deputies say a teenager intentionally ran over and killed her 17-year-old grandson in Orlando last November.
The crash happened along Wakulla Way near West Oak Ridge Road. Investigators say a 17-year-old suspect is now under arrest in connection with the case.
Ecstasy Mooty says her life changed in an instant when her grandson, 17-year-old Mikhail Cuba, was struck and killed while riding his e-bike in November along Wakulla Way near West Oak Ridge Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol initially handled the crash investigation before turning it over to the sheriff’s office homicide unit. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, surveillance video led investigators to believe the driver hit Cuba intentionally.
“I brought my family up here from Hollywood to give them a better life,” Mooty said. “And one little psycho that’s like a rabid animal destroyed all that.”
Investigators say 17-year-old Elijah Emmans was arrested last week on a warrant for first-degree murder. Mooty says she recently saw the suspect in court and believes he showed no remorse.
“I saw who killed my grandson yesterday,” Mooty said. “He had no remorse on his face. Not at all.”
Mooty also claims Emmans was part of a group that bullied Mikhail so severely that the teen eventually left Oak Ridge High School.
“I hope they give him the death penalty,” Mooty said. “Because the child you were is not yourself. You’re not human anymore.”
She says the loss also deeply affected her daughter — Mikhail’s mother — who died in January after what Mooty describes as an accidental overdose.

I live in a downtown metro area and walk every where.
At least a half dozen e-bikers have nearly killed me on the side walk - going like 30-35 mph, making no sound.
E-bikes should be completely banned on side walks.
Here is a picture of the victims. May they rest in peace.
How horrible. May this grandmother find the appropriate justice for the loss of her grandson and his mother.
“I hope they give him the death penalty,” Mooty said.
