We used to live by there at Vandenberg AFB. Going south on 101 you can see the platforms some of them flaring excess methane all they way down to Ventura. Our go to beach was Gaviota and a pipeline came ashore there to a small refinery.

Ironically that is a part of coastal California that is still picture book perfect. Still relatively unharmed by concrete and masses of people.

Been there a number of times as I used to own property in Pismo. When I was last there, it was still very pristine in the areas separating the BX facilities and between the different parts around the cantonment areas. Funny the BX had limited hours on the weekends. Guess everyone goes to Lompoc, Santa Maria, Buellton, Guadalupe, or even Santa Barbara or LA.

I’ve been to the beaches of santa barbara when the oil drills were not working. The beaches have lots of small black oil blobs.

Apparently, the oil seeps from the Santa Barbara Channel naturally
