Crew threw a hissy fit because their pro-homo message got dropped. From what I’ve read they gave the main character mannerisms that speak plainly enough.

Homosexuals spend so much effort trying to make us accept them as normal when that wouldn’t be necessary if most people didn’t see their behavior as unnatural and revolting.
