Free stuff until it runs out.

The other line has as much as you want, but you have to work for it.

Some friends serve at a local mission connected facility that gives free clothing to the homeless.

They started having similar problems with people treating it like it was Walmart and they were shopping.

The fix was to bag up the clothing by size and gender and they got what they got.

This operation might do well to adopt a similar model. Not only would it calm the anxiety, it would also streamline the process.

I was in a conversation with an international group of students once.

One of the women who had done work in Africa gushed about how generous African children were . . . you'd give one a piece of candy and they'd carefully divide it to share with their friends.

I remarked that Japanese children were like that shortly after World War II ended and then they embraced a free market economy where every kid's parents could afford to give them their own piece of candy and yet they still shared and traded.

“I got the spaghetti. I got orange juice. I like orange juice,” Nick from Queens said after making it through the store. “I also got some ground beef. They had grass-fed ground beef, they had lean ground beef and the regular ground beef so I’m glad I got that. I’m really glad I got the grass-fed.”

So, they hours in line to get $20-40 worth of food. It’s emblematic of life of choices that got a lot of these people where they are. I love this impoverished guy for whom it’s important that his hamburger be grass fed

What did NY voters expect from a foreign mayor who is dumber than a box of rocks. Little does this clown know that it takes more than a speech with a big smile to make things happen.

This is the predictable outcome. NYC is going to be an even worse disaster than it has been, under Mamdani. Vote stupid, get stupid.

Isn’t this what most people refer to as a food pantry. The 2026 version of a soup line.

but you have to work for it.

Millions of people have never worked. There was a 60 Minutes episode in the 1990s of a young guy who was asked for his main ambition and goal in life. He said he wanted to get another year older because then he could establish his own individual welfare benefits account, free from his mother's account. Freedom and independence for him..

I can't remember the total but for another case the kid was something like "the fifth generation born and raised on welfare in the city" since the elderly grandparents took early benefits.

82% (some said 80%) of current Somali people in Minneapolis are on government income and food and health benefits ("welfare" as we called it.)

5 million people in Los Angeles are on CalFresh (for being in government defined poverty).

Michigan. When SNAP,Medicaid, state emergency relief, and cash welfare—are included, about one-third of Michigan residents receive some form of aid, totaling over 3.3 million people in 2023.
