‘I just sent a letter to Mitch McConnell asking his committee to stop stalling the SAVE Act,’ Rep. Brandon Gill said.
Old glitching Mitch appears to be glitching again. Is his Trump hate showing?
As Sen. Mitch McConnell prepares to ride off into the congressional sunset, the Kentucky Republican is said to be sticking it to President Donald Trump one more time. And the sticking this time, not surprisingly, involves one of Trump’s most urgent concerns: election integrity.
“Oh, yeah, that’s what McConnell is doing. Personally speaking, I think it still stems from Jan. 6 (2021 Capitol riots),” a top congressional aide told The Federalist on Thursday afternoon, as the battle over the SAVE Act ground down to trench warfare.
“Of course, Trump hasn’t had nice things to say about McConnell, and vice versa, but I think it’s personal, no matter what (McConnell) says,” the aide added.
The 83-year-old former Majority Leader’s latest trip to the hospital this week for “flu-like” symptoms has slowed the pace even more so on whatever version of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) the listless GOP majority believes can squeak through. But McConnell’s intransigence on a bill that humbly asks for proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in U.S. elections has been felt over the nearly 300 days since the Republican-controlled House passed the measure.
To say House Republicans have had it, doesn’t quite say enough.
“I just sent a letter to Mitch McConnell asking his committee to stop stalling the SAVE Act,” Texas Rep. Brandon Gill wrote on X earlier this week. “The House did its job. The Senate needs to do theirs.”
The letter, signed by Republican Study Committee members, reminds McConnell, chairman of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, that he has “unique authority to add this critical legislation to the markup calendar and advance it to the Senate floor for a vote.”
“As the 2026 midterm elections are swiftly approaching, Congress cannot afford to delay the consideration of critical legislation that will assure the trustworthiness of our elections,” Gill warned. The Texas congressman notes that 48 of McConnell’s Republican Senate colleagues — a super majority of the Republican Senate Conference — have cosponsored the legislation. The Kentucky Republican is not one of them.
‘Thune Must Bring It’
Dealing with what Lincoln called “a case of the slows”, The authors of the SAVE Act have introduced the SAVE America Act, which adds a voter identification requirement to the original measure. Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., last week said the provision requiring voters present an eligible photo ID before casting their ballots would come to the floor “at some point.”
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, who co-authored the SAVE America Act with Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee, said the House will take up the “improved version” of the bill next week.
“Once the bill passes the House, Leader Thune must bring it to the Senate floor and force Democrats to explain why they oppose securing our elections,” Roy said in a statement......SNIP

Mitch needs to go.
Those Kentuckians never forget or forgive when someone undermines them. The think they can do no wrong.
Sounds like Mitch might be possessed by the spirit of John McCain.
Mitch will get his fellow RINOs Susan Collins, Tim Scott, and Lisa Murkowski to go along with him.
I’m sure Trump’s abrasive personality makes him difficult to work with.
I’m also sure McConnell’s corruption makes him difficult to work with.
Mitch is part of the deep state. He’s likely on the Chinese payroll. Since Mitch is on the way out, trying to hurt Trump is consistent with what I’ve seen from him.
I can imagine Mitch propped up in his Hospice bed, dictating precise instructions to his minions on how to ‘resist MAGA’.
Even if he has to write it down on a dry erase board, nevertheless, Mitch will persist in his rebellion until he can persist no more.
What an evil petty man.
I’ll say it again. These 6 year senators need a ‘vote of confidence’ to continue out their terms in the 4th year. Primary time-yes or no. If it’s no the party elders pick a replacement to finish. Too much of this crap going on. Think Tim Scott’s instant reaction before all facts are in on that monkey post. He’s leaving in ‘29 meaning 3 more years. He needs a pic of him posted showing him eating a banana.
So Mitch wants to destroy America just to spite Trump.
What’s that say about Mitch and his CCP wife?
The Swamp village graveyard will have names like Mitch in it
There must be one thing that Mitch wants that Trump could trade!
There will always be a risk of someone equally bad or worse to replace the old bastard but it will be so good to see him go.
“””So Mitch wants to destroy America just to spite Trump.

When you are owned by China you do what they say.
And Rand Paul.
“Sounds like Mitch might be possessed by the spirit of John McCain.”
Yes!! That’s exactly the first thing that came to my mind. Will he do the 👎🏻 the way McCain did?
... easy for MitchTheChinaBitch to do after he and his herd of Rinos teamed up with Pelousy to steal 2020 for the PuddinVegBiden. He ought to be in jail... ymmv
“Mitch will get his fellow RINOs Susan Collins, Tim Scott, and Lisa Murkowski to go along with him.”
Don’t forget lame duck Thom Tillis of North Carolina. He has made a strong anti-Trump shift since announcing he would not run for reelection. Tillis has stopped sending his weekly letters to North Carolina voters whose interests and preferences seem to be forgotten. Likely he is working full time for those who will make his next career possible.
That makes far more sense than the juvenile headline. Why would an octogenarian think like a frump-girl?
