Between the White House ballroom currently under construction, and the proposed Arc du Trump currently in the planning stage, Washington DC could look entirely different when President Trump leaves office. The classic elements are genuinely inspiring.

It is a rendering from the Treasury Building, directly across the street, and replaces the very small, dilapidated, and rebuilt many times, East Wing, with a magnificent New East Wing, consisting of a glorious Ballroom that has been asked for by Presidents for over 150 years. Being an identical height and scale, it is totally in keeping with our historic White House. This is the first rendering shown to the Public. If you notice, the North Wall is a replica of the North Facade of the White House, shown at the right-hand side of the picture. The richest and most powerful country in the world has a large state functions that require fess tents and port-a-potties for state dignitaries.
Ridiculous...even Obama’s people and Bidens people said this was long overdue.
I really don't like the ostentatiousness of various European countries, and I don't think we need to look like Europe or the Middle East, to any level of “glam.”

At 250 years, I think we finally deserve a few nice things.

Greek architecture has inspired generations because of its classical beauty. The concrete rectangles of the 40’s and the slap in the face grunge architecture got attention but isn’t what we want the future to remember us for. I’m thrilled Trump recognizes the Greek classical lines and is willing to find the money to build monuments that will long outlast him, but not his memory. Grateful every day he has THREE MORE YEARS!!!

I like the ballroom. The arch is grotesque imho. We can do without all the faux gold. Let France keep the Arch. We don’t need to duplicate it here.

I don’t know enough about this ballroom thing to form an opinion either way. But I agree with your statement above.
Many Europeans chase after royalty, and all the pomp that goes with it. That’s probably something we should avoid.

A no-brainer: It will be a large, iconic Americana representative affair dedicated to the American people.
