Kiefer Sutherland is still on the hook for possible charges after his alleged Uber driver assault case was sent back to the LAPD for further investigation by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, a source confirmed to The California Post on Monday.

Sutherland was arrested Jan. 14 after allegedly threatening an Uber driver who refused to pull over and let him out, TMZ reported.

Sutherland, 59, told cops he called for an Uber Black after having dinner with a friend on the evening of Jan. 11 and asked the driver to take him home.

At some point during the ride, Sutherland asked the driver to pull over and let him out, according to the driver. Sutherland then threatened to kill him if he didn’t pull over.

this is the weirdest story - why wouldn't the Uber driver let him out and why are they taking the driver's word for it? KS Had to post a 50k bond...

Is KS a conservative? If not I have no clue. Maybe they have video from inside the car?

If it’s true the driver refused to pull over and let him out, that’s kidnapping against the driver.

I bet this story doesn’t add up and charges will be dropped

Kiefer has confessed that "almost every single negative thing that has happened in my life was as the result of drinking," but told iPaper: "And I didn’t stop. So at some point you have to take responsibility for that, and I do."

However when asked if he wants to stop drinking, he confirmed: "Nope, no. Some of the best times I've had have been when out with friends, having drinks, telling stories. That’s me at my happiest.

I didn’t see a new twist, just a repeat of the exact same story from the beginning.

well, I wasn’t there so I don’t know what the hell happened BUT the driver didn’t speak English so he probably doesn’t know, either:

Hey, if you have some drunk guy in the back of your car and he tells you to pull over, should you do it?
I would, to avoid cleaning up a mess.
There must be more to this story...

Fair enough. If someone driving a hack refuses to pull over the next safe place and let you out, you have every right to consider yourself kidnapped and resort to violence.

He’ll be fine. The uber driver won the lottery.

Except for six week’s lockup in California Gentlemen Jail many years ago, he’s spent the past 40+ years privileged and wealthy. He only did time because it was his fourth DUI conviction in California.

Arrested dozens of times, let off on most. The DAs always dropped charges from felony weapons possession to drugs, to DUI, to assault.

Poor kid lives in the shadow of his father and is a pale reflection.

Item maybe of value.

Uber black is the premium service. A driver owning a very nice car looks at the request for a ride and based on where he is that moment, decides if the drive he had to make to that location is worth his bother — based on the proposed destination.

He makes that decision, picks up the rider, who suddenly changes the rules by changing the destination. This costs the driver/owner money and for that distance he might not have accepted the ride request.

The rider pays only for the distance travelled.

So that would be a source of driver anger.

Friday night after Shabbat at the Wall in Jerusalem, we guys needed to get back to our hotel in Tel Aviv. Friday night and no Jewish cabbies are working.

So while Mohammed drives us across the mixed Jewish/Muslim territories inbetween in the pitch black, we’re glued to our mapping programs with an agreement in advance that if he exits the freeway along the way, we open our doors and jump and roll. We’d rather have the broken bones than be tomorrow’s kidnapees.

the police had to bring an interpreter, so the story seems pretty obvious

Keifer was drunk. the driver can’t speak a lick of english, and chaos ensured as a dunk passenger got mad for being ignored

The new bit is that the prosecutor sent it back to the cops for further investigation. Probably as a prelude to dropping it once the immigrant driver refuses to cooperate.

I read somewhere that the driver did in fact speak acceptable English, which makes the request for an interpreter a very savvy dodge. And that makes me even more suspicious of him.

Then again, Sutherland was drunk and possibly quite mistaken.
