It was a breathtaking bit of brazen blame-shifting.
On Monday's Morning Joe, Mara Gay, a MS NOW analyst and member of the New York Times editorial board, claimed that Somalis in Minnesota are being "scapegoated" over the massive social program fraud that has taken place on Governor and former Kamala running mate Tim Walz's watch.

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Pirates off the coasts of Somalia have hijacked a commercial vessel for the first time in 18 months, raising fears of a resurgence of armed attacks along the coasts of Somalia.
This week, the pirates have launched multiple attacks against vessels before successfully boarding the Malta-flagged Hellas Aphrodite, which was en route to India from South Africa and ferrying gasoline, according to the ship’s owner, Latsco Marine Management Inc. EU Naval reached the ship on Friday and found all crew members safe.
If they did what they are accused of they are not a scapegoat. Further proof that the lamestream is not that bright.
That’s exactly what’s going on in Minnesota, California, New York, Illinois, and other blue controlled states.
Scapegoated by the vote buying DNC/DFL.
Actually, I believe it is Minnesotans being scapegoated by their state government. The Somalians are just knowing pawns in this. The state gets the money and gives the “Somalians” some of that.
I don’t think that she really means to say ‘scapegoat’. The implication of her use of that term is that there is rampant fraud happening all over, for which _only_ the Somalis are being blamed.
So Mara: who’s REALLY committing the fraud if you think (wrongly, of course) that the Somalis are innocent??
