I am strongly considering switching to Starlink.

I am about fed up with lousy service and high prices from Spectrum cable.

Not to mention the taxes added to the bill.

$80 a month and free equipment.

I don’t know why am waiting except that I will have to install the thing myself.

It’s easy.

I see now none of the big motor homes are using their satellite dishes, just Starlink and streaming.

"$80 a month and free equipment."

Confusing. They say No upfront hardware costs and also refer to rental fee and their site lists a one-time kit fee due at start of service.

If you have to pay full price for installation, I believe that the company that partners with Starlink on installation, DSI, provides installation for "only" $200, guaranteed.

I ordered the free HW package, in Oregon. After it arrived, in just 3 days, I discovered that obstructions to the sky - house and trees - at my place are 10 to 11 %, which is quite a bit greater than Starlink recommends.

I tried to cancel service and return the package. Starlink offered me free installation, instead. I figured I could still cancel and return if the download from satellite was poor, so I accepted free installation. The installers came just 4 days later, on Dec 4, and were on site just 30 minutes. They did a neat and clean install thru the wall into my home office, with a really clever way to seal the hole.

They knew how to get the best signal, and while download is not perfect, there are interruptions lasting 1 - 5 seconds several times a day, more frequent during heavy rain, it has yet to be a problem.
