Impossible! That’s illegal!
I am not even sure, ho this can be done?
Old mechanical odometers were pretty easily rolled back. But the new electronics! O have no idea?
I wonder how accurate these stats are.
I would assume that is only on vehicles carfax has info on.
I know none of my cars have had anything reported to carfax since I have owned them.
I could easily roll back the odometers on 2 of my cars if I wanted to, but I am never going to sell them.
never going to sell my other car either, but I have no idea what I would have to do in order to roll it back, probably have to desolder the ram and use a dediprog or something.
who is flashing all these cars?
For that kind of massive fraud there has to be a whole industry dedicated to it. I wonder if they all flash voting machines on the side ?
I asked some AI bots if there was any news articles about anyone in California getting charged with doing this but I came up with a big Zero
The only thing I found was a legal firm who claims to be “The Law Firm That Keeps California Car Dealers Honest” and then they tout a news story about a dealer in Florida that was busted for doing this, but not by them.
Obviously the CHIPs does not care or they would have a task force to take care of it. In fact I bet that Officer Jon Baker and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello could crack the case in about an hour./
Many years ago, this was common practice by some used car dealers. Somewhere along there was supposedly a change in production on car odometers & it was said they couldn’t be reset without damaging them. Now, with electronics, I don’t know. Is CARFAX any help in the deceptive practice?
We all know “bad guys” follow rules!
