The Rolling Stones have called off plans for a 2026 stadium tour of the United Kingdom and Europe, a source close to the band confirms to Variety, following reports that guitarist Keith Richards was unable to “commit” to it.
While never officially announced, the group’s touring pianist Chuck Leavell and a spokesperson recently told press in the U.K. that the band has nearly completed a new album — their second with 35-year-old producer Andrew Watt — and planned on touring the U.K. and Europe. However, Richards, who turns 82 on Thursday, is said to be unable to commit to the rigors of another tour. Live dates in recent years have shown that he has challenges playing guitar due to a long battle with arthritis, which he has called “benign” and said has forced him to change his style of playing.

They'll both leave us soon.
And what they leave behind them is precious.
I had my doubts when I hear they were going to tour next year.
Well, there’s always next year.
Ohhhhhh, crap. When Keith Richards is not feeling well.........
The strolling bones
I saw the Stones on their “Some Girls” tour at a small venue in Lakeland, FL. Glad I was able to see them.
Just retire guys. Your catalog of songs are still being played every day around the World. Thanks for the great classic rock music. You outdid the Beatles by miles.
If Keith has anything similar to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, that hurts a lot, and the only way to lessen the symptoms is to stop using that hand in the same way.
Stop using it, maybe for a few weeks, or if it comes to performing, where you have to produce the same difficult chords over and over and over, maybe you would need to stop that routine completely. Too much pain relief means you don’t feel the strings as well. A lot of Cashiers in retail stores or Clerical Workers end up having that problem.
“Keith Richards is a repository of American music?”
Correct.
He may be THE repository.
Seriesly? Dude’s name is Aswad?

I’m pretty sure they burned the house down.
Have they finally decided they’re too old?
Yep.
But what a run.

He was so pickled, mummified, and preserved from all those drugs we thought he would outlast them all!
He did.
The last time I saw ancient Mick Jagger strutting around on stage, it struck me that a lot of dignity resides in simply knowing when it’s time to retire.
That was the first concert I went to, the Stones Some Girls tour in 78 at Soldier Field. I cut school to go wait in line for tickets at Ticketron at the local mall in Chicago. Fun times.
Heh, heh.
