I was in junior high in the 70s and on the strong advice of my physician I had to quit the football team.
After that during gym class or any other time they had the opportunity the football coaches would verbally harass me for leaving the team.
When my dad got wind of that he paid a visit to my school......he never would tell me what happened but the harrasmment came to a screeching halt.
Father’s today.....if there is one....I don’t know.
Thats the way it should be handled.

Given recent trends, likely no fathers around. The article says “parents” a couple times but in these times what does that mean?
My daughter experienced the same when she refused as a SOPHOMORE to be the VARSITY GOALIE on the girl’s field hockey team. No one wanted that position. Including her. She quit the team altogether and was subjected to a lot of pressure and ill treatment from a bunch of fat liberals.
