During her address at the New York Times’ DealBook Summit on Wednesday, Berry took aim at the Democratic Governor's recent decision to veto Assembly Bill 432, which would have extended insurance coverage for menopause-related care and treatment in California.
“In my great state of California, my very own governor, Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill not one, but two years, in a row,” the 59-year-old actor and women’s health advocate said, “but that’s OK because he’s not going to be governor forever,” she told the audience.
She then added: “With the way he’s overlooked women—half the population—by devaluing us in mid-life, he probably should not be our next president, either.”
The Menopause Care Equity Act which was vetoed by Newsom, also known as AB432, had bipartisan support in the California state legislature.
If signed into law by the governor, it would have ensured insurance coverage for menopause and perimenopause symptoms, while also incentivizing menopause-specific physician education and curriculum development in medical schools.

Hell, he’ll be wearing THAT critique as a badge of honor lol
What is there to research about it other than relief for the
possible uncomfortable symptoms it might cause?
It's a normal part of aging.
Uh, no. It’s health care. You are an*ss.
It’s health care just like prostrate exams is healthcare. What a bunch of women haters.
Oh, sorry. Guess I am suppose to pay for this rich beach's healthcare.
How much do you donate to this cause or are you a "woman hater" too?
You seem like a really nice guy.
What are you even talking about. ?.
So what is the role of the government in this particular situation?
Oh, we're talking about California.
A bunch of freaks in the state government.
Never mind.
Hey Halle, he should never have been a governor either. He’s a flaming dumpster fire on incompetence and irresponsibility.
She is talking about the gov't paying for menopause. I am making the claim that the gov't does not belong involved any such thing. I don't care if it is menopause or prostate. You called me a woman hater for such a belief.
My point is that such funding belongs to private people choosing who to give their money to and not gov't paying someone to force you to give them money, paying someone to setup such a fund, paying someone to dole out the money, paying those who would fraud the system (reference what is going on in MN), and leaving a small amount left for what you hope to fund.
If this is something that concerns you then give your money to the cause and not other peoples money who may have more important things to spend the money they earned on.
