When I attended university I often socialized with a group of education majors (wannabe teachers) because many of them were hot young women. They were all reasonably intelligent. There were several journalism majors that hung around the same space at the student union. I never saw any of them crack a book and rarely saw them attend class. I frequently saw them making out and smoking pot. I decided they were not serious people. My opinion of them since then has not changed.
