Hello AOL Member
We're letting you know that your use of AOL services will be governed by a new Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on or after January 2, 2026. We encourage you to review these documents to understand how your information will be handled after this change. There's nothing you need to do for now. You can continue to use the AOL services as you do today. If you'd like more information, please see the FAQs.
Thank you for being part of AOL.
The AOL Team
I was surprised to see a company I have never heard of, Bending Spoons, is buying AOL. Looked into it to find out it is a Itailian company (Wiki shows they have a record of buying companies and laying off all or most of the staff).
I have had an AOL email address for over 30 years. They are claiming all is well with this transfer, but picture me skeptical.

What is changing? Yahoo has agreed to sell the AOL business to Bending Spoons. Subject to certain conditions and regulatory filings, once the sale is complete, the AOL companies: AOL Media LLC and AOL Membership Services LLC (collectively, “AOL”), will join Bending Spoons. AOL will be the worldwide provider of AOL’s products and services. AOL Media LLC will be responsible for your personal information. A new Terms of Service and Privacy Policy will cover AOL services.
Outside of the US, for AOL products and services not currently offered by AOL (as defined above), once the sale is complete, your information will be transferred to AOL Media LLC to ensure continuity of service.
When does this take effect? The acquisition is expected to be completed on or after January 2, 2026 (the “Closing Date.”)
My only concern going forward is that AOL may decide to reinstitute a fee to use the service. THis is part of the "AOL Terms of Service" doc. I have no idea if it is the orginal or what they are actually changing in the Terms of Service.
Fee-Based Services and Billing. Unless otherwise specified in the additional terms that apply to the Services you are using, the terms in this Section 11 apply to you.
We offer products and subscriptions for a fee ("fee-based Services"). These fee-based Services are governed by the additional terms you agree to when you register for the fee-based Service and these Terms. If you register for a fee-based Service, you must designate a payment method and provide us with accurate billing and payment information and you have the continuing obligation to keep it up to date. Many fee-based Services require you to have, or register for, an AOL ID.

Thanks for the information. I had a Verizon email address which they transferred to Verizon. So I guess all my private information will fall into the hands of Italian ‘businessmen’. Better start transferring everything from my primary to my gmail and outlook emails.

I only use the email. Their content is typical MSM leftist. If they charge me for the email I’m gone. It will be annoying to change but I won’t give the woke a single cent if I can help it.
Ah, I remember the old days when AOL arrived on the scene.
I completely rescinded my roof with free AOL CD offers.
