The Trump administration on Wednesday said it was placing an indefinite pause on immigration from Afghanistan in response to the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington D.C.
The suspected shooter, an Afghan national, immigrated to the U.S. in 2021, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“Effective immediately, processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is stopped indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols,” the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said in a post on the social media platform X.
“The protection and safety of our homeland and of the American people remains our singular focus and mission,” the agency added.
President Trump on Wednesday night ordered his administration to review the cases of individuals from Afghanistan who entered the country after the U.S. withdrawal from the Middle Eastern country in 2021.
The shooting suspect, Rahmanaullah Lakanwal, 29, entered the United States in September 2021 through the program “Operation Allies Welcome,” DHS said Wednesday night. At the time, the Biden administration ordered DHS to help vulnerable Afghans who worked with American troops during the 20-year war in Afghanistan resettle in the U.S. after the Taliban’s takeover in August 2021.

Those people don’t belong in America. They live in a different century. I get tired of hearing how we owe them something because they were translators and some other crap while we were fighting their war for them. A lot of Americans are dead or mutilated fighting for their country and when Joe Pedo decided to run like hell, these Afghanistan heroes were running like hell to get the hell out of their own country. They are cowards.
That’s like closing the barn door after the horse has already escaped.
I can’t believe we still allow any immigration of Muslims, period. I’ve known and worked with several. They’ll say things, mater-of-fact, “I’m having fifteen children because we need soldiers for the jihad. Pass the salt.” And everyone would have described that guy as a “moderate” Muslim. He married his wife when she was twelve and she was pregnant at the airport when he landed. A twelve-year-old wife. You’d think he’d be arrested. But no. All cultures are alike.
I saw that show yesterday. Benson did no such thing.
