I can’t remember where I read this-—years ago-—but I thought it best explained Hitlers declaration of war on the US AND his obsession with killing Jews in the last year of the war even thought it was dramatically harming his actual prosecution of the war:
It was that Hitler saw the war itself as about killing Jews, that FDR and Stalin (though not Jews) were both “under the influence” of the Jews, and therefore sooner or later he’d have to fight both.

The DNA was compared with known relatives of Hitler. If Hitler got away, he left a quart or more of his blood behind, so that DNA tests, which wouldn’t exist for another 70 years, would be fooled.
The OSS and Stalin were convinced Hitler got away.
Of course intelligence assessments could be wrong.

Also, I now finally know what "Bratwurstgloeckl" meant in German, though I had sorta guessed it meant "lucky sausage." I thought "gloeckl" was derived from "glücklich".
