We were told by an Alaskan tour guide, the wild animals dont have egos, they are pure instinct,

one minute they can be just chilling the next second something could trigger them and youre dead.

And it could be anything that triggers them. You move, you blink, you cough, your smell, a glint off one of the buttons one your shirt, and BOOM! they go ape sht!

That is funny. Another boy was about to swim in with him, but changed his mind at the last second.

I blame Disney for a lot of the stupidity that happens in human - wild animal interaction.

Buffalo.

It’s OK to call them Buffalo. You’re among friends here.

Real life is not a Disney movie.

I knew someone, Timothy Treadwell, who studied bears and was killed by a grizzly. Wild animals are wild and are unpredictable. Very sad all around.

There are videos circulating that don't really show the actual attack, but record his blood curdling screams as he's being eaten alive.

And his poor girlfriend didn't get out while the bears were busy and she was next.

Indeed - polar bears aren’t like any other kind - they view EVERYTHING that moves as potential prey/snack. There are no other alternatives available.

Plus, they’re one of the largest bears on the planet, rivaling Kodiaks - if they can get to you, you’re dead.

Bison, buffalo, either way they’re good eatin’!

One of the good things Ted Turner did was his chain of Ted’s Montana Grills. Featuring Buffalo meat.

On a somewhat related note, I was in Alaska a couple years ago and learned the difference between caribou and reindeer.

Reindeer can fly.

I saw a video some years ago of a videographer who locked himself in a steel cage and took video of the polar bear encounter. He didn’t get eaten, but it wasn’t for lack of trying by the polar bear. It was PISSED OFF that it couldn’t get at the tasty morsel inside, was slapping the cage violently, biting the bars such that blood was coming from his gums, etc. I’d have wet myself, it was something else. I forget what they did to get the bear to move along, but the whole thing was quite memorable. Crazy videographer if you ask me.

I think there is a Scott Larsen Far Side cartoon on this exact topic.

Hat tip to Gary Larson.

(A Canadian radar technician was mauled to death by a pair of polar bears as he took photos of them while working at a remote Arctic outpost,)

Uhh... oops... 😬

Poor guy. Those things are incredibly-strong.

I don’t know what could stop them...

Apache Helicopter?

I think we’ve seen similar eating behaviors
by some of the cast members of “The View”...

Polar bears eat anything and everything

Polar Bears live in a harsh environment and must eat anything and everything to survive. They bear humans no animus. To them we are just food.

Jim Fowler of Mutual of Omaha fame listed them as one of the most dangerous predators to man because they will hunt and kill a person. He also listed hippos and crocs.

Women should be treated the same way. And I’m not trying to be funny. I’m dead serious.
