I like Victor Davis Hanson, but he needs to quit trying to draw parallels between the Confederacy and the socialist nuts infesting the Democrat Party.

The leaders of the Confederacy loved the U.S. Constitution, and were thoughtful in their arguments.

The modern-day loons have no concept of constitutional government, and want it destroyed.

In a rational world you are correct. But given how irrational the country is now, some cop somewhere might decide to assert his authority (Ala Cartman). Some evidence of just how stupid people are

1. 75 million people voted for Harris
2. Terrorist suck up and avowed communist, Mamdani was elected as mayor of NYC
3. Chicago cops violated every law enforcement standard by turning away from a call for assistance by federal officers
4. Portland police arrest ANTIFA’s victims rather than the terrorists
5. Human nature is the same now as it was in 1861
6. etc.

The leftist crazies are at least as convinced of the righteousness of their cause as were the Confederates. Unless a lot of arrests and serious jail time comes out of the escalating conflicts it’s just going to to get worse. And some of these overreaching judges need to get fired/arrested too.

I respectfully disagree. There is no loyalty to culture among the Dims today like there was in the Confederacy. In the Confederacy all it took was a few leaders to take the Union's bait and fire at Fort Sumter to make it a war. After that there were men who fought for the Confederacy to protect their home (i.e. Robert E. Lee being a "son of Virginia"). I don't see that kind of loyalty to a local region or culture among the Dims today.

While I agree there is no loyalty to the Democrat brand by the far left fanatics there is a rabid devotion to the socialism/communism cause. They are using the Dem brand as an umbrella until they can import enough Somalis, Ugandans, Afghans etc. to ensure our country is stolen from us. Getting rid of illegal invaders who have no intention of assimilating threatens their plans, hence the willingness to use violence. Charlie Kirk was not an outlier in their world but one of many to come.
