Will SNAP benefits not be issued in November due to the government shutdown? My cleaning lady, a cancer survivor receiving SNAP (she desperately needs it) just asked me, and I don't know. Does any FReeper definitively know?

Is this the Babylon Bee?
Hopefully, there are plenty of food pantries available, for the truly needy, if democrats continue to withhold benefits.
It is my understanding she will not get it, but it might be made available later, covering the lost time.
As of now, no. On the other hand, it depends on your state. Some states have enough money set aside to fund Snap recipients who are only elderly or disabled. Those will be prioritized to have their EBT cards loaded. The state ext door to me, Louisiana, is planning on doing that it was just announced. What state are you in?
If the shutdown persists. Odds are states will dig into their budgets to cover the amounts, but it’s every man for himself, from a gubernatorial perspective.
Only Democrats in the Senate know.
No unfortunately NOT the Babylon Bee. This is a real person I am talking about.
We are in Maryland
Why don’t you just help her out?
This is calling into question my long held belief in Reaganomics.
The pantries are virtually cleaned out already. Unfortunately, some of the food went to lazy trash instead of the truly needy.
She works for you. Why don’t you pay her more?
Just like Walmart, government is subsidizing your employee.
Just how much food does someone get in one of those food boxes at the food distribution points?
It is just a few random items usually, it isn’t actually replacement food for the month.
I have helped her out already on various occasions such as loaning her the money to make her car payment, car repairs, pay for her cat to have veterinary care, and just last night, an Amazon delivery (which they screwed up, so I had to do it all over again) of food. She did get that food just now, but because Amazon screwed up the first order, it was duplicated and so I will get the order at MY house instead of hers. Oh well, she certainly can use the extra food. I also ordered a bag of Purina for her tiny dog, too.
She has always been good about paying me back with work, so I have no complaints.
You really took the time to ask the question here, rather than do a .00003 second search?
Cool.
The answer to your question is yes. Buy her some food.
I see the low intellect keyword spammers are at it.
Can’t argue the point, so they spam keywords.
We are doing this with someone helping our extended family.
It is the right thing to do.
EBT can rollover.
If people saved up EBT from previous months, that can be used to feed them.
This is mostly single white mothers in Appalachia. 42 million (incl children) will lose food subsidy Friday night.
And no, it doesn’t matter whose fault it is.
Buy her some food. Give it to her because she is a human in need. Not everything is a transaction that must be paid.
