This is throughout the gummit and especially the Pentagon.
Back in the ‘90’s, I was part of a team from a large computer company that responded to an RFQ from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in ABQ NM. We were told that we could not submit a bid unless it was submitted through an organization owned by an Indian company. We found one to continue the bidding process. His fee added 10% to our proposal. Should we have gotten the award (which we didn’t) he would have pocketed the 10% as his cost of doing business with us.
The pass through is not a problem if the prime contractor does 20% of the work. Fully allowed as sub-contracting.
Been this way for decades
The thing is, the Native American is just a front man who has no experience with, or knowledge of construction. The real contractors have less Native American blood than Elizabeth Warren.
Its not just the construction industry, it is inside the supply chain contractors also.
“”Its not just the construction industry, it is inside the supply chain contractors also.”””
Definitely. I know a large contractor here who has a black woman that is a big supplier. They order a million dollars worth of pipe and such from her, she orders it from the supplier and ships it to the job site. She gets a cut, they can say they have minority suppliers.
Fresh out of college in the early 90s, I did “economic development” and was tasked with doing worksite interviews on a small town water project for which we were administering the federal /state grants. Had to interview the owner of the “woman/minority” company that was doing the work.
Her late-twenties ?husband was onsite so I talked with him. He told me that she solely owned the company. She wasn’t ever onsite but I could certainly give her a call but could I wait until the kids got up from their naps as this was about the time she put them down. This was their first big job since he split from his mom’s company but they were “plenty experienced because they were using a bunch of his dad’s crew and he had done the bid.”
Back then a lot of guys put the company in the wifes name so they could say women owned. At some point they changed the requirements to say the wife could not have a full time job if she claimed to be running the company.
If I was still in business I would claim to be a black tranny cis lesbian homosexual.
This kind of government sponsored nonsense is infuriating.
My girlfriend has a Master’s in Accounting and worked alongside me at a company. We both worked like dogs doubling the size of the company in just a few years. We brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars in new contracts and increased the retention rate to 98% YOY.
I took another position because my middle child was going through a horrible medical issue and my friend decided to start her own company. From just her working out of her kitchen, she now has a staff of 10 working full-time making good pay. She has multiple clients and does quality work.
I would be livid if someone thought she was hired because of her color and not her skills, but shenanigans like those described in this article damage the perception of all hard-wotking black Americans.
Maybe I read this wrong, but it appears that the primary isn’t doing ANYTHING. I would think a cursory review of the contract would expose that.
I guess I could make up something about “administrative” tasks. I guess it comes down to how they define “work.”
My boss knew the company having worked with them for many years. When I told him about it he said that what made it interesting was that it was the young daughter-in-law (the son was apparently adopted) that was essentially being setup as the succession of family’s business and that he must have finally recognized his own daughter as a train wreck.
Bkmk
One of the stupidest things our government did was to pretend that the Feather Indians were their own governments and countries.
They never really did much except fail in most cases. They need to be incorporated into the United States and the reservations and special services and special rules demolished.
imho
Agreed.
