But plenty of questions remain about what lies ahead for peace in the region, particularly the future of Gaza. In the agreement, there is no mention of plans towards a Palestinian State that is recognised by the United States, nor clear plans on Gaza’s future governance.
This has somewhat been laid out in Trump’s initial 20-point peace plan. During Gaza’s redevelopment “the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood,” Trump’s plan states. Advertisement
But the President made no mention of a Palestinian state during his remarks at the signing ceremony on Monday, and has previously criticized recent moves from western countries to recognize Palestine.
On Monday, asked by reporters about a two-state solution, Trump would only say: “We’ll have to see.”
Trump added: “I’m not talking about a single-state or double-state or two-state. A lot of people like the one-state solution, some people like the two-state solution. We’ll have to see.”

Despite main stream media shrieking about the “genocide” going on against Palestinians for years now TIME immediately posts a story about the peace deal with a title so negative you would have thought they supported the war.
The phrase “sour grapes” comes to my mind.
This was merely the first phase of a multi-phase peace plan. The second phase is Hamas disarmament. Good luck with that.

“the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood”
Conditions for a credible pathway to self-determination and statehood only rarely arise on this blue marble we call Earth.
The 20-point plan is merely recognizing that it happens. Occasionally. Not that the so-called Palestinians will ever see the day that it happens to them.
Rescuing 20 innocents and ceasing the madness, at least for awhile, is a good thing.
That said anyone thinking we have “peace” should open a bridge-buying business... in Brooklyn.
What we have is a truce. Better than war, but not peace.
What that will happen is in the bag. It has been there for several years. It would have happened perhaps already except for the intervention of Iran causing Hamas to make the assault on Israel.
The Abraham Accords are going to click in and the process known to all the players will begin. A new country replacing what was Palestine will rise from the Hamasless rubble. That process will be guided by the members of the Abraham Accords
“I’m not talking about a single-state or double-state or two-state. A lot of people like the one-state solution, some people like the two-state solution.”
That’s Trump-speak for “No way I’m backing anything other than the one-state solution. Current inhabitants in the midst of our new resort community? I’ll handle them just like I did the homeless in DC.”
A good way to anger God is with a two state solution.
Israeli’s are celebrating....
Palestinians are celebrating...
Liberals and their mouthpieces in the media are mourning...
Just another reason to be happy...
This saga is wonderful on the outside like a wedding cake to everyone on the planet, yet it has a dead mouse inside. The radical muzzies will not stop their murdering of innocents, you can expect more bomb-belt suicides, poisonings, etc. It’s great to see the whole ME getting together in spite of rogue terrorists. President Trump knows this and has the help of all these nations, some 400 miles of hamas tunnels for starters.
A new country replacing what was Palestine will rise from the Hamasless rubble
—
There never was a Palestine, so it cannot be replaced.
The Abraham Accords will fall apart in time - its the nature of muslims to distrust each other, if for no other reason that religious grounds.
Hamas will not disarm, the regions smugglers will keep them in arms and ammo, while the Gazan population will keep them in troops. The battle will rage for more years and more hostages will be taken.
Its been 1400 years of war and slaughter by muslims, and not likely to end before another 1400 with the current Western approach [ which lacks the intrinsic knowledge that Islam already destroyed Western Civilization once ]. The war will only end when the koran with the sunnahs & hadiths are discredited, or Mecca and Medina nuked, or the last muslim dead or converted.
Exactly - and as a result they will never get to the point of discussing a "two-state" solution.
I fail to understand why the truth is being ignored.
During Roman times Palestine was an area full of Jews.
It never was a nation.
Today “Palestinians” are Arabs that no other Arab country wants in their borders as residents. They are allowed as “Refugees”.
There is no Palestine, nor there should be.
Solution is to have Israel expand to its, historical
borders and assimilate the Moslems into modern society.
Moslems that can’t assimilate, get deported to
the Antarctic. Dump them in the unclaimed zones.
with sufficient resources to build shelters.
They will be kept busy there. Drop them food.
Worlds best isolation ward.
I won’t totally disagree with your cynicism except that this time there is money at stake. Lots of money.
The Arabs , Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are going to invest tons of money and will expect a return on that investment. Maintaining stability to protect the investment will trump Islamic extremism.
That is my version of Trump style optimism
And tbere it is... time magazine pissing all over the parade
Good. He should never have permitted the slur ‘two state solution’ to have been associated with his administration in the first place.
But I hazard that they’ll go out swinging.
i.e., The ‘deal’ will collapse.
As well, there is a real possibility that hostages claimed as ‘dead’ are actually alive.
Wait for it...
We have had a “truce” with North Korea, which has maintained only because of the presence of US Troops in South Korea and an unrelenting commitment to the military needs of the South Korean armed forces.
From time to time North Korea makes threatening noises they will again invade South Korea, but they have been deafeningly quiet in the recent few weeks. A show of force works almost always works at dampening aggressive actions whenever it is applied.
Good. The “Two-State Solution” is foolish. Gaza was essentially made an independent state in 2005, and it was a horrible mistake that must never be repeated. And Jordan is already an Arab state in Palestine.
Two State Solution should be called From the River to the Sea.
The “Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan” was established at the same time as Israel was. There was a “two state solution” right from the start. It was rejected by the Arabs.
