A crisis of democratic legitimacy in Britain: should people accept being ruled — and oppressed — by judges or “experts” without a popular mandate?
The United Kingdom is facing a confluence of challenges that strike at the very heart of its democratic legitimacy, national sovereignty, and social cohesion. At issue are, not only institutional convolutions but also growing public disillusionment with how justice is administered, how power is exercised, and how British identity is being reshaped — without the explicit consent of the people.
Pressing concerns are the erosion of “parliamentary sovereignty”, the rise of unaccountable judicial and bureaucratic influence, the consequences of unchecked immigration, the double standards in law enforcement, and the cultural tensions born from demographic and ideological shifts. As much as these developments threaten abstract principles, they offend the ordinary citizen’s basic sense of justice, fairness, and national belonging.
At the core of British democracy lies the principle of parliamentary sovereignty — the belief that the elected representatives of the people should hold ultimate authority over national policy. Yet in practice, this principle has been eroded. Increasingly, decision-making is outsourced to civil servants, regulatory bodies, expert panels, and judicial institutions that operate with limited democratic oversight. This “rule by experts” may be justified by the complexity of modern governance, but it severs the link between the electorate and those who wield power.
The result is a creeping “technocracy” in which policy is shaped behind closed doors by unelected elites. Public health mandates, immigration decisions, and regulatory changes are imposed without meaningful debate in Parliament or consideration of public opinion. Citizens rightly question: if decisions that shape our lives are made without our input, who, exactly, governs us?

It’s the same over here in the U.S. We are being ruled by the Deep State, and our lower court Judges have gone rogue, being populated by too many liberal judges who constantly thwart our legal and duly elected President of the U.S., Donald J. Trump, at every executive step of the way by imposing their own personal leftist ideology upon us and legislating from the bench.
We are not much different from the U.K. Supposedly we are because we have a Constitution to back “we the people” up. However, in practice it isn’t working out that way, and the only thing standing between our people and a total leftist dictatorship disaster, is the SCOTUS, and they too aren’t 100% trustworthy to back common sense up. They have done very little to stop the lower courts’ attempts to rule our country, by not issuing an ultimatum with any finality to these lower court judges that what they are doing is absolutely unacceptable. With a few exceptions they are becoming toothless and afraid of mob rule. They too have been doxed, with one assassination attempt already under their belts (robes), and fear the riots and chaos that has ensued throughout the land.
So you tell me how we are that different from what the U.K. is dealing with in their country. We are verging on civil war as these lower court rogue judges ignore any SCOTUS attempts to rein them in, and the ideological, mentally diseased far leftist Dems ignore SCOTUS while fomenting lawlessness throughout our country.
The strong will of President Donald Trump, in spite of being thwarted at every turn by lawfare, a judiciary bent on imposing their ideological beliefs upon us, a run amok bureaucracy that really controls our country, and a population of which too many are brainwashed, having been indoctrinated from youth by our far left educational system and the MSM, tries to right our ship in spite of these attempts at sabotage. Any corrective steps the executive branch of our gov’t attempts to make is being thwarted by the dark side.
In particular I point out the effect of the media that is in the back pocket of the Dem Party and works hand and glove with them to turn our country into a Socialist/Communist third world dump.
Where is my assessment here of the status of our country’s current condition wrong? I ask you all. I pray that the strong will of our President and his Admin are able to override and bring stability back to our country. Two assassination attempts later, I’m not overly optimistic, but if anyone can knock this country back into shape, it is President Trump. We the people must back him to the hilt or a dystopian future awaits us all.

Very good post overall. You’re not wrong but there are so many headwinds against Trump that in order for him to turn the culture around (which is enormously difficult) he will need to focus more on the massive problems we have right here at home instead of trying to fix other ‘crises’ around the world which are never ending and costly distractions that we can no longer afford. Our obscene level of national debt is an existential threat to the country IMO.
Civil war has become a trending topic these days so there’s an increasing sense of urgency for him to put maximum attention on our economy, enforcing our laws, and increasing the readiness posture of our national defense. Lots of work yet to be done at home in terms of achieving domestic stability and prosperity, both of which are conducive to a healthy country.
In other words, America First.
And The Government. Don't forget how the Nazis, the Social Democrats and Communists all used the courts and judges to control the populace and imprison the 'dissidents' like us.

That’s where Trump’s tariffs come in to play. We are/will be taking in billions of dollars that Trump will be using to bring down our national debt significantly. That’s if SCOTUS does not go rogue and sabotage Trump’s use of tariffs to right world economic wrongs against our estate. I don’t trust SCOTUS mainly because of Chief Justice Robert’s RINO propensities and weakness of leadership.
As to foreign “crises”, if left unsolved they in themselves can instill huge economic costs on our own economy as well asthe world economy. Trump has expended only a modicum of energy and expense in snuffing out hotspots in other countries that if left unintended would end up redounding negatively to our own country as well. He’s done an excellent job in minimizing the effects of any future global wars that potentially would affect the world economy as well as ours. As far as I can see, none of his peace in the world efforts have distracted him from his America First agenda (see his using the shutdown as a means to get rid of whole Dem agencies and radicalized woke individuals embedded in our gov’t departments right now in real time). Trump can very well walk and chew gum at the same time. He has the stamina of a bull while literally dodging the bullets projected against him, both verbally and physically.

Tariff adjustments were necessary. So its not a question of why its being done, but rather how its being done. To be objective about it, the tariffs are a mess that virtually no one can understand or predict the impact of. Constantly changing fees and deadlines are simply destabilizing and not good for business or consumers. We are still a very long way from finalizing the incredibly complex tariff framework and this is making it hard for businesses and consumers to adjust their investing and spending plans. We need to get the calculous of the tariff adjustments settled ASAP so we can focus on productivity, innovation, our crumbling infrastructure and reducing our debt. We now spend more on servicing the debt than we do on military spending.
There is a price to be paid for getting involved in things all over the world. The problem is, there’s no end to it; new crises pop up all the time that require enormous diplomatic, military and financial resources. This is how nations go broke. And don’t forget that the United States credit rating has already been downgraded by the major credit rating agencies and it could well happen again with our national debt rapidly racing towards $40 trillion (which is already at an astounding $326,000 per taxpayer). Not blaming this on Trump; just saying it needs immediate attention.
Stock market valuations are at historic highs right now as businesses, consumers and government are carrying record levels of debt. This is a very dangerous situation. If there’s a major market correction our economy will suffer big time. In fact, we’ll all feel the pain. The health and future of America should be priority #1. That’s how you Make America Great Again.
